Milwaukee pictures
It took Michel Jourdain seven years and 126 races, but he deserved this one - a true sÃ*, se puede tale.

Mario Haberfeld drove a good race, starting 10th and finishing 7th. If not by an unscheduled pitstop, he could have placed himself even higher.

The Milwaukee Mile at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in West Allis celebrated its 100th anniversary in gala.
It is the oldest racing track in the world still in operation. |

Jourdain and Moreno made a dash-to-the-line in a race for the closest port-o-let before Friday's practice.
Moreno won by 0.45 seconds - until he realized that Tagliani was already there... |

Oriol ServiÃ* - here seen during practice - drove an oustanding race, and his dice with Paul Tracy put the crowd on their feet.
Curiously it was for ServiÃ*, and not Tracy, that most were rooting for. Likely a "neighbour thing" between Wisconsian and Canadians... ServiÃ* just fell short of getting the laurels, but Jourdain was unbeatable in Milwaukee. |

Now that Jourdain's got the win, he can start working on the razor blade...

Friday's rain - including a eight-hour long tornado watch - obliterated qualifying and soaked everybody to the bone.
Luckily the wind picked up on Saturday and the cloud cover that capped Milwaukee was blown away - and we had a race! M'wkay insiders suggest, though, that this pond remains in the paddock since August 1954. |

Adrian Fernandez gets his Lola very loose and almost goes to the wall on Turn 4.
We would soldier on to finish 6th - putting two Mexican drivers in the first six places. |

Jimmy Vasser flies past the pits. He would have a headache of a race on an uncompetitive car, finishing 11th.
Looks like Jimmy is getting tired of not fighting for higher positions. |

Alex Tagliani and Mário Haberfeld dance side by side under the lights. They put a nice fight, won by the Rocketsports driver.

Fittipaldi teaches the secrets of the trade to Tiago Monteiro.
Emerson was particularly concerned with the strong winds and low temperatures. He continues to be the gentleman he has always been, very approachable. A true ambassador for the sport. |

Hello, Folks,
Thanks for your words! Yes, it was bloody cold in Milwaukee on Saturday - indeed, it went down to 4 oC! As I had no jacket, I was obliged to buy something from the new CART apparel collection... This shot gives you an idea of the required clothing to stand the weather watching the race. |

Hello, David A Brown,
The karting weenie race was won by the bavarian/tyrolean weenie... (no ankle-slapping dance in the celebration lap, though). Talking about race winners, here is Ryan Dalziel, who drove faultlessly to capture the Toyota Atlantics trophy in Milwaukee. Can someone explain me why is Dalziel name pronounced "dee-ahl"? |

Tagliani celebrates his pole position - obtained without Friday qualifying, that was rained off.
Alex and the Rocketsports team had great hopes for the race, but Jourdain, Servia and Tracy were definitely faster. He was quite disappointed after the checkered flad dropped. |

Roberto Moreno's input with Herdez Competition has been fundamental on Mario Dominguez's enhanced competitiveness seen this season.
Moreno was an innocent victim of the first lap meleé - that he called "one of these racing things". |

"Mais ces américains sont fous, quoi...", ponders Bourdais while covering his ears at the sight of one of the jet trucks drying the track on Friday night.
From the stands, someone shouted "put the rain tires on!", and everydody laughed. Last edited by Muzza; 4 Jun 2003 at 02:13. |

Michel Jourdain makes his second pitstop. The Rahal crew was perfect throughout the race, and their fine job helped Jourdain to grab the first place trophy.
Some teams, as Rahal, used additional spotlights to light up the pit box. |
