New 5-series!
Hello friends-
BMW has a new 5 series coming up... Check it out!! What do you think? P.S.Does anyone else think that the taillights strongly resemble that of a last-generation Peugeot 406? Same designer maybe?? |

with the new M5 coming soon as well i think the 'mean' look it has will lend well to more useful bits, like flares and a splitter.

When I first saw it I though "Toyota/Lexus". I'm guessing that's probably not the reaction BMW were hoping for?

Well, apparently, all Bimmers are supposed to look like that within the next few years. I still don't know what to say. I'll have to wait until the new 3-series next year.

Yes, I like it, it does not look FAT like V.A.G. cars. And what's wrong about Lexus?

I think he said that because Lexus is Toyota's luxury brand (like Acura is Honda's).

Hmmmm... I'm not a big fan of BMW but I think that is not a bad looking car, for a clonebox I see where you're coming from with the Pug tail lights, but then so does the new Laguna. It's a fairly bland and annoymous looking car but probably a great drive.

it looks like an angry beemer - great! just what we need on our roads, NOT.
Its headlights look like they have those £20 stick on eyebrows what you usually see on Novas and Fiestas Last edited by woodyracing; 1 Jun 2003 at 01:11. |

I give it "Yay". It's a handsome enough car.

Steering wheel is on the wrong side! It looks a bit bland to me.

"Yeah, like the Ferrari is Fiat's luxury brand."

I am not a fan of Chris Bangle's work on the 7 series, but the 5 looks a bit more toned down.
I'd say that I do not like this design either, but I will wait and look at it in person as photos often do not capture the presence of a vehicle. |

I'm undecided. I'll wait to see it in the flesh, thanks. But first reaction is that I prefer the old one. Maybe that's just familiarity - it's certainly a bit dated now.
I just hope they haven't 'softened it up' too much. One good thing with the usual depreciation hit the old version gets - I might be able to afford an M5 soon...! |

I'm not sure either and, like garcon, think I prefer the old one (though unlike him, I still won't be able to afford an M5).
I reckon the front end looks good, the side profile is awful and the rear-end is worse. Whatever though, I bet it's still a fantastic car! |

Having said that, I'm not at all familiar with the current Lancia range. Last edited by Bluebottle; 2 Jun 2003 at 15:41. |

I think Chris Bangle should be sent back to the US, post haste!! The Quandt family should be forced to sell BMW since they obviously don't have a clue. What utter monstrosities! And then there is that godawful i-Drive.
What is the world coming to??? |

BMW 3.0 CSL. Glorious thing. Someone find a pic - I'm too busy!
Not great on wet roundabouts though. As my mate's mum found out. My mate's dad wasn't very happy about that. |

Saw an old adversary from a few weeks back this morning in Wythenshawe - bright orange BMW 2002 - I remember him from when he scared the pants off me by blatting round the inside of me round a roundabout first time I saw him!
