Who do you think is the UK based driver below Champ Class F3 most deserving of support to help them on their way to F1? And why? Please feel free to attach a poll etc.

After winning zetec festival with pressure all the way and the way he stamped his authority on the Walter Hayes final in the most dreadful conditions. True talent shinning through needs a good foot up onto the ladder.

That's one point of view bella, but if none of the others wanted it then they aren't worthy of the support anyway!

I've seen Joey race four successive weekends (one of the few I suspect!) and his attitude and demeanour has impressed me as much as his ability. He is a genuinely good bloke and genuinely a racing enthusiast.

He'd get my vote any day.

Seriously for a minute and as an aside is F1 still seen as the target for all young drivers nowadays? Increasingly, it seems to me, many "youngsters" are opting for a saloon/sports car route. I'm sure if Patrick Head was to approach any of them an ask them to drive his lovely Williams F1 none would turn him down but I think a growing realism has set in and they see that there is much more on offer in the sport that doesn't require them to sell their soul (well not most of it anyway)

Joey Foster gets my vote...he's shown pure talent and determination recently resulting in him being very impressive in Zetecs, FF1600 and Renaults. I find it hard to believe that no-one else wanted to win the Festival, he just out classed the lot of them! He's always been the underfunded driver, it's about time someone recognised his talent and gave him a helping hand.

It seems whatever Joey Foster drives at the moment he's always at the sharp end. With any luck he won't have to drive anything uncompetitive any more, especially if he gets an F3 drive. As for the festival, if there is no one in front of you then surely your job is to keep it that way. It seems to me he did that pretty well, and by the looks of the WHT he knows how to win from low down as well.

He's actually testing at Silverstone today in F3 Scholarship. Obviously this is what he would love to do next season, but it all comes down to backing. Due to how impressive he's been recently he's got some funding sorted but he's in the process of trying to get additional backing to ensure he's driving a very comepetitive car next season. What he does race next season will really be influenced by the requirements of the sponsor, both Renault and F3 are still a possibility.

As an enthusiast, PROBABLY ALL OF THEM, As a realist, PROBABLY VERY, VERY FEW OF THEM.

Of the few thousand race licence holders in the UK, all would improve with time in the car and this costs ££££

Now widen the scope. There are probably thousands of "people in the street" who would be far more talented / skillful / brave etc than even Schumi, but they will never get the chance, nor would even consider taking up racing. They would wonder as to the appeal of driving round and round in circles.
There are probably thousands of "better than Beckhams" out there, who don't see the point in chasing and kicking a bag of wind around a muddy field [eleven of them turn out for my team - Liverpool FC - on a regular basis!].

Back to the original question ..... most deserving of support to help them on their way to F1? ....
Answer = those with the richest daddies / contacts. Without the spondoolicks, talent alone is not enough and major sponsorship just isn't out there.

Joeys times at Silverstone are spot on the pace, even against Rossiter. Hope he gets the chance to race Scholarship, although the prize money not being available next year isnt going to help him.

James Walker was the best driver out FF boys according to Autosport. Alx Danielson was second and TKS third, then Foster, Clucas and Howson.

2 interesting things here. First, Danielson was ranked higher than TKS who won the title. Second, Valle Mäkela?? Maybe the thought that Nexa rocket had a bit of an advantage?
