Pre Qual Question
During the pre quals do they use the whole circuit or do they just use the bugatti cicuit?
Sorry if this question has been asked recently. Rick. |

The whole circuit, so far as I'm aware. Thank God; never been a fan of the Bugatti circuit.

Definitely the full circuit. The whole point of the current format untimed 'test day' is to allow teams to practice at highspeed on the bumps of the Mulsanne so they can get a safe setup.

Yes and to allow the rookie drivers a chance to get to know the circuit and to drive at night. I think each non approved driver must have completed a minimum number of laps to be allowed into the race.

They don't pre-qual at night in May, they only do that in June during the proper qualifying.

The purpose for ACO is to see the cars in the flesh on the great track, in real conditions... and for the team to set the car on the very fast part of the track (where else in the world ?) : 340 kph last year...

Each driver who has not run at Le Mans before must complete 10 laps of the entire La Sarthe track before the ACO will allow them to run in the race. Any team with an all rookie driver line-up certainly has their work cut out for them with trying to get the drivers oriented to the track and achieve a good base line car set-up.
