New Pilbeam - Everything new is old again

Well from all the wonderful talk we were hearing about the updated Pilbeam i was expecting something rather impressive. I guess it was all just talk. It did practice at a 2:12.8 in the first session last year, and a three second gain - they went 2:09 today - is pretty good...but it's only good if you have a good starting place. Maybe it was just the first day jitters, we should know the whole story by Friday. Last year they qualified at a 2:06.719 so if they fail to better that time then they know that they blew a whole bunch of money on a pretty new paint job and some new wheels.

Sorry Rob, looks like the shriner-mobiles are doomed to buzz around the back again unless all the other 675s break (which happened many times last year so you never know!!)

Re: New Pilbeam - Everything new is old again

Now, that's not quite fair. Why was the MP91 hyped as the new 675 challenger in the first place? Just because it looked different from the MP84? And, is it really no good just because it doesn't match the MGs' pace? This is a brand new car, give them time to sort it out.

I wasn't expecting them to be pushing the MG teams, but i was at least expecting them to be faster than the GT cars.
