Porsche RS61 Spyder #718068 history sought?
I am in need of some help putting together the history of Porsche Spyder RS61 #718068 the 4th of 13 cars built. I have access to the Porsche factory records BUT they failed to record WHO they sold the car to on the delivery date of Nov 10th 1960. What I know picks up in the late 60's the car may have been owned by Euve(Ewe?)Bheul(Buehl?)of NY reputed to be a werkes mechanic who was somehow associated with the Rodrigues Bros. His estate sold the car in the early 70's to one Krine Laffler of NY a warbird enthusiast. He sold the car to one Tony Singer of NY in the late 70's who sold it to Fred Foerg of Wichita, KS since deceased who sold it in 1989 to Mr. Tokio Yoshida and I aquired it this year. My obvious problem is the gap from the delivery in 1960 and the late 60's Mr Buehl(sp?). I simply do not know where to go from here? Anybody have any ideas? Tom Claridge tclar18@aol.com 510 623 1111

I don't know if this helps, or even if it is the type of Porsche you are talking about, but I did the painting below for a guy from NYC called Herb Wetanson. He owned and raced this car in the 60s. It is one of my early paintings from '83.
I know that Herb is a wealthy restauranteur in NYC and still has a stable of historic cars he occasionally races. I no longer have contact numbers but do know that he is boss of the Manhattan based Dallas BBQ and Toni di Napoli restaurants. Perhaps you could trace him there and ask if he has documentation on his cars? Good luck. |

Andrew, Thanks for the lead on the car. It could be the type car though the RS60 and RS61 look so similar it you cannot tell them apart in photos. You gave me a good lead for further investigation and I thank you! TC
