Restriction
If for LMP there were to be new engine regulations with only one form of engine restrictions, which one would you like best? I think it's pretty confusing to have fuel-flow, engine cap and air-restriction at the same time, or is that just me?

It's confusing but one affects pitstops and the other two affects horsepower, so it's not as if one rule could cover both matters.

How much total energy is in the system?
That covers all the bases be it petrol, diesel, or electric... |

stored energy in the tank & energy flow during refueling -> green racing, just for marketing reasons
Hybrid: whatever they want to do in LMP1 - no hybrid in LMP2 |

Single restriction on fuel flow into the engine, measured in terms of energy - x joules per unit of time. Same concept as the group-C total energy limit, but without having to worry about economy runs.

How about a horsepower limit?
e.g. for P1, Limit the cars to 600bhp measured at the wheels, mandate starter motors, disallow pneumatic valves, ABS and ESC, and only allow energy recovery systems for the purposes of fuel efficiency. Take away the competition on power and engine builders will focus on other things such as fuel efficiency or cost effectiveness, or a combination of the two, while trying to stay on the bhp limit at the same time. |
