I got my Quaife one through Demon Tweeks, but I would say that if you emailed Quaife, then they could help you out.

The common conversion at the moment is using the electric power steering form a Vauxhall Corsa B grafted onto the original column

Jack Knight used to do them, don't know if they still do but they have a web site so probably well worth a look and a phone call?

I also once owned a MiniFord Hotrod and what I would have given for power steering in that. If its OK for F1 it must be OK for us, I genuinely think it is a good way to go.

I'm looking to re-do my front end at some time, so I can drop the engine further, thus getting rid of the Capri crossmember and rack. I've looked at some of the 70's special saloon Escorts & Capri's that ran Can-Am / Sports-GT front suspension setups, like Lola T70, or March 701, etc.. so I feel a visit to my local purveyor of McLaren M8's and see what it looks like.

Those mods would be for 2007.... together with multi-body fuel injection.... I just want to get rid of that ruddy great hump. If you can get a chevy in a Mk1 Escort, without Ben Nevis poking out the top, I'm sure I can do it in this Belmont! The suspension would be built up off the car as a subframe, then the existing front end cut off, and the new one fitted. I'm looking around in the gutter for fag packets design it all on!!
I was hoping to test it as it sits before xmas, but nowhere is open in Blighty for me to go and freeze my bits off. That'll have to wait until Feb when they all open up again.... Or, there's always the roads / supermarket car parks around Wingham in Kent.... Rob. |

You could always use the Chevy direct port injection as it came from the factory with a modified ecu meant to be pretty handy and very low profile. I may know of a set up including programmable module my mate may do a deal with you. He has it on a Viper/corvette kitcar but unfortunately he left the autotrans in it and it keeps changing down on the rollers so the man can't calibrate it correctly now he is talking about whacking a holley on the thing to sell it. Incidently the standard bonnet my black car is very low profile but everything fits OK under it, are you sure that you cant do a manifold and low profile filter change and get rid of the hump.

If power steering is available then couldn't the steering arms be shortened to give less leverage?...just a thought
