Hamilton did a great job, but I'm going to have to vote Hulkenberg because he's British.

To those new to Ten-Tenths, this is a 2012-2013 joke rather than a slight against Britain.

A number of very good drives. Beautiful controlling drive from Hamilton, very good effort from Vettel keeping Rosberg in sight and a typical cerebral and feisty drive from Button to stay in front of the quicker Williams pair whilst trying to control the wear on the rears. However, it has to be Hulkenberg; brilliant effort on a two stopper.

I'm going to give it to that man from Stevenage - Lewisham Hamster.
Special mention to the Hulk - his battle with Alonso was cool. Kudos to Alonso as well. A good finish with that Ferrari. Vettel did well to get the Red Bull to 3rd. Rosberg put in a decent performance as well. |

Overall performance would be Hamilton.
But doing the most with what they had would be Alonso and the Hulk, so I gave it to the Hulk. He, more than anyone over-reached the place where the car should have been placed. Vettel, after Ricciardo's performance in Melbourne, and his qualifying position, did what I expected him to do. |

Hulk had a great race, but Hamilton just controlled the race. Yes he had the best car, but he still managed to pull a demanding lead over everyone else, including Rosberg

Loulou. The perfect race weekend but also an excellent drive from the Hulk; makes you wonder what he could do in a better car. Also honerable mention to Button and both Williams drivers, particularly Bottas having got that grid penalty.

Hamilton owned the weekend overall… and given the run he had today, I don't doubt that Melbourne would've been his had the Merc run ok there for him.
The Hulk did amazing things: I haven't watched F1 regularly in years, and find it intriguing that even the commentators are amazed that he seems largely unwanted at the sharp end of the field… what's with that? |

It was a close decision for me too. I had Hamilton and Hulkenberg as the two candidates. so.....
Driver of the Day: Lewis Hamilton - He controlled the whole race from pole and lead virtually every inch of the race and won by a decent margin. Honourable mentions: Nico Hulkenberg - Great drive to mix it with the top cars, why he is still in a Force India is beyond me. Sebastian Vettel - I think he did a fine job. He kept Rosberg honest all day in a car I thought might only sneak into the top 5 this weekend. Fernando Alonso - As per usual he does a solid job that gets Ferrari decent points. Kamui Kobayashi - I think he did an OK job to win Division 2. |

Driver of the race
Vettel. Not for his drive, which was adequate, but for his wonderfully non-PC dismissal of the new F1 regs as **** (asterisks required…). He has gone up immeasurably in my estimation – at last we have a driver prepared to speak his mind. Apparently, the odious Todt and the rest of the Frenchy mafia aren't too happy with him. Even better!

I'm really struggling to pick a DOTR.. so many worthy candidates for so many different reasons!
Hamilton, Hulkenberg, Vettel, Alonso, Kobayashi, Button and also slightly surprised that nobody has mentioned Bottas thus far. All above are equally deserving IMO.. so none will be picked by me until the OP makes it a multi choice poll.... or... changes the thread title to 'Driver of the weekend' in which case I'd give it to Lewis for achieving his pole in such difficult conditions. Very true, in that case I'll give it to Kamui for doing a great job with no practice time/setup work.

Driver of the Race: Hamilton. Dominant all weekend, thrashed his team-mate and we don't even know how much extra he had in hand. Well, actually we have a pretty good idea: fastest lap way faster than anything else he was doing, just because he could.
Nearly Driver of the Race: The Incredible Hulk. For all the reasons all his voters mentioned. Unluckiest Driver of the Race: Riciardo. Badly fitted wheel nut, causing huge time loss. Then a broken front wing. Then a penalty for un-safe release. Then a grid penalty at the next race, also for the un-safe release (that hardly seems fair, does it?) Soundbite of the Race: "Valtteri is faster than you." I was thinking the same thing myself, but I didn't expect his race engineer to say it. Hardly the best way to make friends and influence people. |
