Rock ASCAR - June 8/9
Is anyone going to the meeting?
If so, do you want to meet up? |

I believe it clashes with the UK round of the International Paint Drying Championships live from the McAlpine Stadium in Huddersfield, and I'm covering that for Sky Sports sadly.

I fancy the B&Q own brand to beat Crown in that competition.

Yes, if you look in the latest Which Report on paint drying they've got B&Q own brand as the odds on favourite, so you could be onto a winner there.

I will be there, went to the last round and really enjoyed it, for those that have "something better to do" have you actually been to see what goes on or are you just assuming it will be boring?

I know that it's not everyones cup of tea but before people put things down they should come along to see what it's all about, have to admit I thought I would find it boring but I didn't it was so much more relaxed than any of the other meetings I have been to, the teams were very willing to answer any questions and the drivers were very approachable, with the right support and PR it will turn into a great championship.

OMG!!!!!!!!!
How sad are u lot for coming up with excuses! A simple 'not going' would do. Even if you are boring old farts Also, most of you are lying, because you have not been and don't know what brilliant racing it is. Sooooo much better that corrupt F1. Last edited by Speedworx; 31 May 2002 at 20:44. |

Do you wish to see the ticket so that you can compare it against your collection and check it's authenticity ?
I think much of my dislike for it comes from the fact there is no atmosphere, and therefore no sense of excitement. Now I have spent many years watching racing on short ovals, and I've been to the Daytona 500, and compared to these there is simply no atmosphere at Rockingham I'm sorry to say. Anyway I'm bored with this debate now. You go and enjoy your Ascar and I'll be at Donington enjoying something with about 100x more atmosphere Have fun! |

Well, I have seen ASCAR, but brilliant it most certainly is not. I'll stick to the more interesting forms of motorsport.

going round in circles only works if it's really fast or really exciting. ascar is neither. the only thing it's got going for it is darren manning's arse. and i'm not prepared to defend an entire series and make up excuses and reasons why it's good to defend one drivers handsome derriere.
i've still got the sunburn from last year, and the noises going through my head of the last but one serious cars to go round there. champcars. (last one was formula renault winter series. ah, and clios) Last edited by bella; 31 May 2002 at 21:29. |

I'd just like to say i think the organisers
" oh, we must bring the safety car out as there is a fly on the track" situation last time i attended was a bit farscial and if that is why you wish to slate alot of people for NOT wanting to see more? .... well, obviously, don't feel daft about this fact..... if your happy. |

I'm not overwhelmed by ASCARs yet, but I do think it has potential. I think the Rockingham historic link circuit (that the Legends and Pickups use) creates some fantastic racing, which on its own is good, and I expect the quality of driving has gone up this year.
I plan on going to this one, to at least give the series another chance. Since I first went to Rockingham last year I loved the idea of oval racing, and being able to see the whole track. I miss Rockingham, and can't wait to get back there! |

The quality of driving certainly has gone up this year. Take pole speed from last year and bring it to this year, gives you 13th on the grid!!!
Chatting with the drivers is a lot of fun and very interesting. This coming meeting I'm going to meet one of the West-Tec crew memebers who posts on the forum. |

I wasn't overly impressed when I saw them, mind you at the time I was busy talking to some Champ car drivers so perhaps thats a little unfair.
And Craigs right, for that sort of race you need quite a bit of atmosphere for it to be worthwhile. And anyway, i've got exams too. |
