Buddy Rice to Rahal - *confirmed*
Buddy Rice will be filling in for Kenny Brack at Team Rahal. Sadly, it looks like that Team Rahal will be a one car team throughout the year. Maybe if Kenny comes back for Indy, they can run two cars then? Anyways, here's the story -

Isn't that the truth! Bad enough that all the USAC dirt series drivers are going to NASCAR, when they really should be going to the IRL! |

From the report, I've just noticed that Pioneer will be the lead sponsor, along with Argent - that seems to be bad news for Mo Nunn, as I'm sure they weren't involved with Rahal last year.
Otherwise, good to see that Buddy remains involved, but he really has earnt a full season ride. Cheever replacing him with Carpenter seems like a retrograde step, as both are promising yougnsters but Buddy ahs done more races and shone in that time - unless Tony george had something to do with it. |

So is Rice merely filling in until Brack recovers, or might Bobby Rahal decide to stick with him (maybe even in favour of Brack, who didn't shine as much as I expected him to in 2003) if he performs well enough?

Rahal have expressed and interest in a second car - if they can find sponsorship.

Boots, Pioneer did sponsor Rahal last year, on a 50/50 car with Miller Lite, so maybe there's still room for a sponsorship at Mo Nunn.

Good for Buddy, but I was hoping for Dare.

Boots,
Pioneer sponsored Brack in 2002. That's Pioneer of North America. If you notice, Tora Takagi is sponsored by Pioneer of Japan. It was the same situation in CART when Pioneer of North America sponsored Mo Nunn's cars (Zanardi and then Kanaan), while Pioneer of Japan sponsored Takagi at Walker. Brack, Rahal, and Robert Clarke (American Honda Racing - HPD) wooed Pioneer from Nunn. Nunn then wooed Takagi and Pioneer of Japan from Walker, who stayed in CART. |

I guess this is make or break time for Rice.
he has impressed in his junior years but now its time to start putting runs on the board in a quality team such as Rahal. |

Okay, my mistake. You've got to admit that it can be confusing.

This article mentions that if Rahal can find a sponsor, they'll run a second car for Buddy upon Kenny's return. |
