YIKES! Who won the WDC in 2003?

According to F1live.com "With just four races remaining of the 2004 season(!), BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, is optimistic that Juan Pablo Montoya can emerge as this(!) year’s world champion." Did I get so bored watching a race that I was put into a year long coma?

Man, if you find this season boring then your watching the wrong sport

However, i'm confident that with 4 races remaining of 2004, JPM could well be looking at his second WDC

Ok people, wack your predictions in now, and we'll have a laugh at this thread (or me) later.

WCC : Williams before the last race.

WDC : Schumacher by 4 points

I know I'm easily confused. I think JPM will win this year but when did he win before for this to be his second WDC:confused:

Wrex, I've looked and looked and whilst JPM has won in other formulas I'm not aware of any F1 WDC to his name.

I think Mrv meant at the end of 2004 he will have 2 championships, very confusing, and optimistic to say the least

Phoenix1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
With the current mad nature of F1 I'd like to say Minardi for 8 points but only if JV keeps driving and gets sponsorship from Heinz :-O

WDC: JPM 2 races to go, remember Williams FW25 is improving all the time and once it's totaly reliable will be hard to beat though KR might have a thing or two to say. I rule out Alonso as Renault are getting a whole new engine and design so that's normally not a good thing and I ruled out MS cause I hope he enver ever gets another point (AUS '94 ESP '97)

WCC - Williams, both fast drivers. 2 races to go as well for them. They could win it this year and look at the first half of the year! If DC stays at McClaren he will continue to be seen by Ron as a driver not a friend and will lack driver, prob go better at BAR or something!

Well , seeing as Juan has already won the title of Cart World Series , he has won the Indy 500 , he was F3000 champion ......I think he is going to put the F1 title to his name also .

yipeeeeeeee

Even if he doesn't take the WDC this year, he will almost certainly take it once during his F1 career, making a mighty impressive list of titles: F3000, CART, Indy 500, F1???

Not to mention a win in one of the most prestigious of races- Monaco. Another Andretti-like sweep perhaps, and in one so young.

The lure of Le Mans remains as well, for perhaps his later years, after the ruthless F1 years have passed.

When numbers get serious......

About the future, the only reference we have is probabilities. We can observe that:
1)In the last few races things have gone constantly well to JPM, whereas MS has been not too lucky.

2) Luck is a wheel, who has equally shared his preferences this year: it shone to McLaren/Kimi, then to Ferrari/MS, then to Williams/Ralf, lately to Wiliams/JPM.

3) On a pure probabilistic basis, it's hard to predict that things will go so perfect to JPM till the end of the season; MS will have to come back to victory sooner or later; Ralf's troubles have to come to an end as well.
The Macs? Who knows..

I conclude that my favourite for the WDC is still MS, whereas I think Williams can catch the WCC

Sorry - I misunderstood your optimism. I'm a big fan of JPM as well as he strikes me as a true racer. However if Williams can start next year the way they seem to be finishing this one then I predict a Shuey junior WDC 2004.

Prediction for 2003:
WDC JPM - 6 point advantage into last race.
WCC FW - 1 race to go.

WDC:SchM- he is the luckiest driver in F1 even when the car is terrible the guy manages to get big points
WCC:Williams both drivers seem to score points

My favourite for the drivers title will always be Jacques, but since that's not quite possible this season (or next season unless he gets a seat at Williams which is unlikely), i'll have to go for JPM.

Constructors Champions will be Williams IMO.

The way things are going, I won't predict anything, just because people can jump in front of the cars at Monza, heavy rain in part of the Indy race, half of the front grid crashing in the first corner in Hungary, and an exciting and perfect race in Japan deciding the championship !!!

If Suzuka decides the WDC, then it will be MS no matter what. He's been very good there the last few years.

Given a shot at the title, I don't think Montoya would be holding back.

He has, but he's had the best car the last 3 years that he's won there. He might possibly not have the best car there this season
