F1 picking the team cars apart
Some info for those of us out there working at F1 events this year to help wok out which team car is which.
This years method is that the leading edge of the top mounted camera will be colored as follows; Red= 1st Team Car Black= 2nd Team Car Yellow= 3rd Team Car (Friday only) As found at Melbourne today |

Hmmm. well called me old fashioned but I always thought that one of the things that defines a racing car is a blooming great number on it somewhere? Strange that American motorsport is probably the most commercially driven on the planet, yet NASCARS still find room for a door-sized number in amongst all the sponsors logo's. More proof IMO that F1 is no longer a sport, but just a very expensive developing ground for manufacturers.

Yeah but have a look at your CART & IRL car numbers.
Besides open wheelers don't have doors you can put door sized numbers on. |

True but they do have large end plates on the rear wing that if I'm not mistaken USED to carry the cars number......but not any more. |

Martin Brundle said in the commentary that the first registered car i.e. the lowest number must have the T shaped camera bit a day glo colour - dont know whether it has to be a specific colour or just bright tho. Surely everyone can recoignise the cars by the drivers helmets!!! (Or so Bernie thinks!!)

I also gather that after today the first car in the race will always be RED and possibly the 2nd one as well!!!!!!!!!!

No, but I think Sauber are wondering they've been short changed by Ferrari's parts dept!
