Brands Hatch 22nd Nov.
Quote from Motorsport News
"Brands Hatch will host its first night race this Saturday after the planned 'Britcar race in the dark' was given the go-ahead. Qualifying and then 5 races will be run before the Britcar contenders take to the track at 15.15 for a 45 minutes qualifying session. The 100 minute long race will start at 16.10. Sunday's championship finals day at Brands Hatch has been extended, courtesy of a brace of Open Saloon guest races. The now 10 race programme features racing from 11.50hrs and runs through without any breaks" WHO GIVES A ABOUT THE MARSHALS!! vote with your feet before this becomes the norm. |

So you agree that Marshals do not deserve any time of then Scott. You are quite happy to go on circuit at 9 o'clock in the morning and leave after 6 o'clock in the evening. A 15 hour day for a voulenteer is not bad I suppose add a couple of hours traveling well I will leave it to you to work out what Mark was trying to say?

I have 10 years marshalling experience, whilst I'm not knocking enthusiasm, after doing a few of these long days, I know what it feels like to do a 15 hour day and then face a 2-3 hour drive up the M6.

Mr Lanyon, just so you know, the Britcar series has to my knowledge no intent to become a night race series.
Unlike the race at Donington in October, it has been known for months that this is to be a "night race", if you actually bothered to read previous posts/threads about this series you would know that. Did you even look at the timetable the day is only marginally longer than a saturday in the summer (and yes I'm well aware of the current time of year/weather etc). So it's not a long day in comparison to say the GP or the ELMS event a couple of years ago. Please stop stiring things up. James Tucker (I'm sure)is well aware of the time the officials are spending trackside. |

I'm not having a go at Britcar but organisers of meetings in general.
If a club sees that it works for one type of meeting they might be tempted to try it with theirs. |

Your original post infers that Britcar is the race/club marshals should walk out of, perhaps your original post could have been a bit clearer.

I'm going to fall on jasongore's side of the fence for this one.
OK, I only live an hour and a quarter away, so I dont have the arduous task of a long trek home. Here we have the promise of 2 days of action packed racing, including a "race after dark" on Saturday Saturday will start at 09:00 and run until the year round curfew time of 18:30 (9.5 hours), with a scheduled 40 minute break from 12:20 to 13:00. There will be clearups that may eat into the break if they happen in the morning, but I'm used to eating my lunch during any break whether it is a scheduled lunch break or when another post is clearing up (yes I know the other post will lose time, but if accidents will happen...) Sunday is scheduled to last about 5 hours 40 minutes (10:00 start, 15:40 finish light permitting) with no break. Please confirm these facts here http://www.brscc-se.co.uk/races/ I look forward to seeing fellow Ten-Tenthers there - I will have enoough Wurthers Originals to feed a small army |

I will be there on Saturday only as sunday i have an ambulance training day to keep my skills indate. Saturday looks good and we need as many marshals as possible. I do not know if Brands has held a night race before but I aint going to miss it. I love racing in the dark.
With reference to other comments on this thread if the meeting looks like a long drawn out affair and you find out before hand by looking at the timetabale I dont go and cancel or just dont volunteer. If I plan a trip away to a meeting I choose carefully what I go to. ie I very rarely go to Donno now as I live 2 hrs away. They have late finishes so I dont volunteer for meetings there. when I lived local to the circuit it was not a problem. RS |

Re: Brands Hatch 22nd Nov.
Quote:
Saturday's programme will finish, as others have already stated, at the normal curfew time. This means that it will be no longer than any other Brands Hatch meeting. There has been much criticism this year of bad programmes, poor grids and rubbish racing. This Saturday looks to be a very good programme with the added interest of a race in darkness. Surely just what marshals are looking for. Sunday's programme, particularly the saloons, looks equally as good. True there is no lunch break, but then - for those of us with long memories - the winter clubbies never did. That was the way marshals wanted, quickfire practice, staright into racing and then an early run home. If any of you have not volunteered for this weekend (either Saturday or Sunday or both), and fancy a day (or two) out on the bank you will be made very welcome. Drop me a PM if you would like details of signing on times, etc. Finally, I rarely bother to respond to people who attempt to organise boycotts, but hide their identity. But when I read the start of this thread, it confirmed my view of what happens when you give the lunatics the keys to the asylum!! Best wishes to all the people who are working very hard to make this weekend a success, to all the very good, committed and genuine marshals who will turn up and do a fantastic professional job as always, to all the competitors, to the officials, specialists, medics and others, and to the hardy spectators. I look forward to seeing you all at the weekend. Peter Scillitoe Chief Marshal BRSCC SE Centre Last edited by Peter Scillitoe; 19 Nov 2003 at 22:40. |

I will be there for both days and am looking forward to the Britcars racing in the dark. We had a taster of this on 1st November and it was a shame that the race was cut short. Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the race and was looking forward to the 22nd.
QBF I will see you for some of those Wurthers on Saturday. |

Very well said Peter, I agree wholeheartedly with your comments.
Let's get as many as possible there this weekend as it's the last meeting at Brands this year. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday and look forward to the Britcars. |

Having just seen this, my thoughts are that Mark put in an exclaimation mark when it should have been a Question mark at the end of his "Censored" statement. That gives the whole phrase a different context WHO GIVES A ABOUT THE MARSHALS? perhaps would have been better! I do however, agree that suggesting "Boycotts" should not happen on a marshals forum! That's my two-penneth worth......bring it on!! Mark |
