First visit to Oulton Park

I'm considering making my first ever visit to Oulton Park to marshal at the F3/GT meeting this Easter. I don't fancy getting up at silly o'clock for the 3.5/4 hour drive from deepest Hampshire so I am looking for suggestions on where to stay, Travelodge, B&B, etc. as I don't fancy camping.

You could try the Red Lion (B&B) in Hartford or the Blue Cap Premier Lodge in Sandiway if you're feeling flush.
There is also a Travelodge on the services just before junc 19 of the M6.

Drop on and say hello at the BMMC stand (should be opposite the Chequers Bar).

No, no. Look. This shed business -- it doesn't really matter. The sheds aren't important. A few friends call me Two Sheds and that's all there is to it. I wish you'd ask me about the music. Everybody talks about the sheds. They've got it out of proportion -- I'm a composer. I'm going to get rid of the shed. I'm fed up with it!

Should you be "TwoNotes" or "TwoTunes" instead?

BTW you will be welcomed up at Oulton. We like others and arent afraid of new people and stuff.... Well they liked me anyway and Im from Surrey originally. You will be met by the Ian Lewis and his trusty wife Nadine who will be enthralled to welcome you to our part of the Motor Racing world!

Now you can't leave it there. I bet everyone is intrigued about the multiple sheds. I certainly am, I've only got one and OneShed didn't sound very good when I created my login.

Seriously though, you'll have a good time with the gang at Oulton. Make yourself known when you get there and you'll get no end of help from us all.

As for the accomodation, there is a Travelodge in Middlewich.
J18 M6, turn left towards Middlewich. After about a mile and a half, you'd reach a large roundabout, straight over that and you'll see it on your left with a Shell garage and Little Chef.

Also, this is en-route to Oulton. I'm in Middlewich and would gladly help you out with getting to the circuit from here.

Actually I'm not at all musical. I got the nickname because of my surname, Jackson, not for my music (or lack thereof).

We used to call one of our Buyers two sheds due to him needing two sheds to put all the cr4p he bought in, not in publishing are you?

The F3/GT meeting is one of my faves, enjoy, and see you there.

C9/89, Hope Nadine dosent mind being referred to as a "Trusty Wife"
(Makes her sound like a lawnmower) or you might find yourself on watertower for the rest of the season!

You could stay in Chester. It's only 10 - 15 minutes away and has loads of hotels at all prices.

any post is busy when your there.

Last year it was only my anti-incident powers that kept the cars on the black stuff when i was on post with you.

Heck i even managed to counteract thon chappie whoes first incident was running from a rolling ginetta... then had the mini in the lake at his next meeting... He had a quiet day with me on Clay Hill where apsolutly nothing happened.

You guys should really try to keep on topic when I'm not around!

TwoSheds - I do the signing on for incident marshals so will no doubt meet you there - most posts are "interesting" at Oulton for one reason or another so hope you will enjoy your trip

They're a great crowd the Outon regulars I was a new boy to the race marshalling scene only two seasons ago and had a great welcome from them all GT meeting amongst my favourite as weel

Bring a sense of humour and be prepared to give as good as you get and youll fit in fine

Many places to stay at all prices near the circuit and at the times we will be signing on traffic is not tooo bad remember that you will have all day Sunday with no racing but plenty of places to visit around the cicuit as well but you may want to bear this in mind when choosing a place to stay or even decding to stay over in the first place

Actually I'm a marshal of 20+ years experience who flags, just never experienced Oulton Park.

Very freindly! Even though I'm fairly local I satyed over last year and had a blast with the others on site, we do have a marshals only area and its well away fro general population so quiet when it needs to be. Probably gonna stay over again this year (I enjoyed it that much!)

They're a friendly lot at Oulton and I found when I started going that they had no hesitation in talking to me and including me in the conversation. Later, I even found I could understand some of them!

I like Oulton. Should have started going many years before I did.
