2015 WTCC news & rumours
I believe ir's already time to open such thread.
http://www.sportmotores.com/portal/!...20055&id=40668 Sadly, no Porto in 2015 If WTCC drops Macau (though in recent Autosport magazine Eric Neve states that it's too early to write it off), there would be no street circuits with Marrakech becoming a permament one. Great |

i never liked porto. boring track with barely places to overtake.
that would also mean salzburgring is likely to stay on the calendar? |

Marrakech permanent? Do you have a source for that? I wonder if they would change anything to the track if it becomes permanent.
FWIW, I absolutely love the track in Porto, for several reasons: scenery, challenge (especially the corners after the long straight), there is a possibility for overtaking in the chicanes at the chicanes braking up the straight, and last but not least, Porto is a wonderful city to be. |

Mat O Homola wrote this on his facebook two days ago:
Heading to WTCC 2015! facebook.com/matohomola #wtcc #fiawtcc #2015 #trenkler #photo #gofastorgohome But there are no TC2 cars allowed next year, of am I wrong? A strong, but big field of TC1 cars would be amazing. As for the tracks for 2015: please no Porto for next year, races are dull. Macau is cool, I like the races there. I would like the WTCC to go to another track in Argentina or Brazil next year, like Interlagos or the Streets of Sao Paolo (Indycar) track. |

Do u know if RML factory is going to build new other chevy?? btw NO tc2 cars next year.
we know for sure that HONDA SWEDEN will enter next year with Rydell as driver. i dont know how much appeal will have the actual Lada Granta next year but i guess that Citroen will increase their cars giving one for sure to chinese MA. i just wonder if they will give one or two cars at an indipendent team. |

Well, Homola also wrote that he needs 100000 likes on his page to get to WTCC, so I believe it's not certain yet, however it would have been great to see him in WTCC. It's likely though, especially if we consider that he was invited to test for Campos by Eurosport
In the same Autosport magazine Yves Matton said that they investigate the customer effort opportunity, and Sebastien Loeb Racing is being one of the potential candidates |

there are no grandstands just the hills around the track - makes a great atmosphere also great to watch. From the hills around the "Fahrerlagerkurve" you can see almost the whole track. |

And considering his touring car background I think he'd be an excellent signing on track as well. |

Well, I believe his participation is possible if only he finds a works drive. Which is highly unlikely unfortunately

ROAL seems to be the same next year: Coronel, Chilton and Chevys, obvious.
Is Citroen building new cars for next year already, I remember reading that somewhere a few months ago. And a customer Citroen team seems both good news and bad news, more cars, but maybe even a 1-2-3-4-5 every race for Citroen. Any news yet from any manufacturer joining the WTCC next year? The current 16 cars are just not enough for old school WTCC action!!! |

They need to do something to liven up the show.
3 x Citroens, <GAP> 4 x Hondas <GAP> 3 x Chevvy <GAP> 3 x Lada <GAP> Bunch of ancient Seats and BMWs. |

Totally agree, but when one manufacturer has a better chassis and more money to spend on better drivers than the rest of the field, what do you expect?

3-4 Citroen 5-6 Honda (2-3 JAS, 1 Zengo, 1 Proteam, 1 Nika) 6-? Chevy (same teams as this year? it wouldn't surprise me if Campos would enter more cars next year.) 3 Lada Vesta not sure about the Lada Granta, should be interesting for the Yokohama Throphy. not sure how many new teams will join besides Nika Racing. i remember Carlin Motorsport wanted to join this year but their plans were rejected by lotti. wonder if they are still interested ... |

I'll make my little prediction. I mostly agree with Metzo:
3 full season entered works Citroens, 2 private. Plus 4th works Citroen for Ma at some rounds just like this year 2-3 works Hondas, 1 Zengo Honda, 1 Proteam and 1 Nika 3 works Ladas. No customer ones 8 Chevrolets. For some reason I also expect Campos to increase their number of cars (Homola, Filippi). I can hardly expect any new team to join. Carlin? Would be great, but just don't remember any news concerning them in the past. So there should be 21-22 cars just as Ribeiro stated not so long ago in an interview to Italiaracing. No new manufacturers next year (at least for the full season, realistically some may enter for a few rounds Honda/lada 2012 style) - no actual time to develop the car. The projected start of the season is on March 8th in Termas (and the cars have to shipped there one month earlier). But in 2016 - possibly two (fingers crossed), and that's where the field should really grow |

Even if we reach 20 cars you can hardly call this spectacular progress. We won't see that without new works teams I guess. At least let's hope that Honda and Lada catch up with the French dream team.

ribeiro said in his interview released to italiaracing.net that he expect to see 22 cars on the grid next year.
i think every manufacture will increase their cars exepct for Lada unless this one succeed to find a russian team that would accept to field the old granta |

It's a shame that the WTCC is clearly not interesting for manufacturers to step into. Only 3 manufacturers with a limited amount of cars, and not much private entries, added with a couple of RML cars. 22 cars is way better than this year, but it's still not at all what a great series as the WTCC needs.

And what about MatÃ*as Rossi, Facundo Ardusso and other top Argentine drivers yet to be proven at this level? Hopefully they can get recognition they deserve. Rossi especially...
