simple answer to meeting drivers - no. when i was there (5 years ago now) there was no way of meeting drivers. however, i am usually wrong..
big tip is to waltz on down to the f3000 paddock with a centre transfer ticket. Last edited by bella; 14 May 2001 at 15:45. |

At the Grand Prix you will have a ZERO percent chance of getting to the drivers - we can't even manage it at the F1 testing. My advice is to forget all aspirations of it - because otherwise you only end up disappointed (and I speak from experience here...)

Top tip, if you hang around long enough on Friday or Saturday you can usually walk through to the paddock (but not the main pits) if you find the bar in the centre and hang around (with the rest of the world) you usually get the chance to see the drivers as they leave the enclosed paddock, most of them stop for a few minutes to sign autographs.

Silverstone memories
Back in 85 I went to Silverstone to watch my 2nd live Gp (the 1st one was in Estoril in 84). The only driver I saw was J. Hunt because he was doing live commentarys to BBC and the TV commentators were just behind my place.
I went to all the portuguese GP's and even if portuguese people are great fans of F1 and even if there I personnaly met almost all of the drivers (I literary chased them in the hotels, lodges and restaurants in where they stayed) there's no comparison to Silverstone ambiance. What happens there - I don't know about this year race program but when I went to Silverstone I remember watching F3 and FFord races, some air exhibitions and stunt car exhibitions. So I can only tell you to enjoy the Silverstone GP atmosphere and forget the drivers. :-) |

Precisely. Octagon take their security FAR more seriously than the previous owners did - we've already noticed a major difference between this and last year's testing sessions.

Chris,
What they do in private is entirely their own affair. |
