15/16 March Silverstone
Just found out about a pre-season meeting at Silverstone(Stowe circuit)on 15/16 March is anybody thinking of racing??
Wondered if it would be a good opportunity for my friends to do there first ever race before any championship meeting . H.opefully a bit less hectic. Any thoughts? |

Re: 15/16 March Silverstone
Could go either way I'd say;
On the one hand it might well be a really enjoyable day. On the other, they're not chasing the championship anyway so I can't see it would be any less hectic, they might break the car and miss the round they really want to do, and every year I freeze my backside off standing around Silverstone in March - it's not fun. That said I'd probably come and watch.. Stacy |

I believe after the SUNBAC meeting a couple of years ago where it was under pressure to close because of foot and mouth, and was then followed up with snowstorms the night before, the financial risk to SUNBAC was too great so they said they wouldn't do it again. I'm still of the opinion that meeting shouldn't have gone ahead - the gravel traps weren't cleared of snow, the paddock wasn't cleared of snow, there was standing water and so forth. Put simply the blue book prohibited it, and I was awfully tempted to protest the decision. However, the sad reality was that if it didn't go ahead I don't think the SUNBAC insurance kicked in, Silverstone still wanted the money, so consequently they were stuffed. You make a decision on what you believe is the greater good.. Stacy. |

I had an availability for this one but it is only down as a one day meeting (15 march) and it is a SUNBAC meeting.

Just had a look at silverstone/octagon website it only has the sandbac meeting on there. But I have looked at my BARC (south east) stuff and the also have a meeting on 15/16th March. One must be one the stowe part.

Stacy, there was a SUNBAC meeting last year, so if they said they weren't doing it again, I guess they changed their minds (?)
It looks like there could be SUNBAC on the national, and BARC SE on the Stowe (or is that possible?) |

I believe Chris Y is right, the BARC-SE one is on the Stowe circuit.

Just had confirmation through t'post that the MGOC will be there on the 15th (Saturday) - not the 16th. So the SUNBAC meet is on, and I would guess that we'd be using the National circuit, as usual, but that's still TBC.

Don't know yet - all I know is that the MGOC have confirmed this one.. I don't expect to have the entry forms for a little while yet.

I have discovered that the SUNBAC item in Autosport was a warning that they might have to pack up because of the costs, but in fact they haven't packed up at all - I stand corrected. Never mind, just thought I'd have more time to recoup the bank balance before kicking off again.. Stacy |

Just realised that the provisional calendar has us down for the nat. circuit! My mistake, I'm got so excited thinking about the racing season. However we are thinking of doing the other day on Stowe circuit (or just doing both days on the Stowe Circuit).
What sort of cars will enter the Saloon and Sportscar Allcomers races? |

Normally steel bodied saloons, for sportscars read Caterhams usually but really its "run what yer brung" to coin a phrase. i.e. a class will be found you.
