Rossi is a breath of fresh air!!!!
I long to see Rossi in F1.
He's in the style of Mohamed Ali. Brilliant, funny with tremendous commercial flair. consider what he said recently: - ""Everyone talks about me, without me being part of that environment, it's a really strange thing. And I also hear sharp, even nasty opinions about myself. "(Flavio) Briatore, (Giancarlo) Fisichella, (Jarno) Trulli: maybe they are a bit envious of me, with a will to demonstrate that the F1 world and drivers are better than those of motorbikes. I think the opposite, but then again maybe they're afraid of me." God I hope he comes to F1 and makes it in grand style! |

We need a genuine "character" in F1 - I'd welcome Rossi in, it would make Moto GP a little more varied, and would bring some much-needed sparkle to F1.

He's certainly charismatic and entertaining, but would that be crushed by the comparatively hard-nosed and regimented nature of F1? On top of that, would his comments be seen in a negative light by some in F1 - guys like jacques Villeneuve and Eddie IRvine have certianly been criticised for making simialr comments.

certainly would , I think he would be a great addition to the series just as long as he is ready to be there and has the talent to do so.
I simply dont know if he is as good in a car as on a bike I'd love to think so and the limited tests he has done he seems half decent at this stage. other modern bike guys has crossed over and done pretty well in cars Wayne Gardner , Eddie Lawson ,Aaron Slight and probably a few more. My only concern is where would this leave Moto GP but I guess thats a thread for that forum Mr Rossi come on down we'd love to have you |

It'd be great. It'd make the tipping contest a little more varied!
I think Rossi has the stuff, and he's got the charecter that Formula One needs. Imagine his first victory? |

His F1 tests so far - has he done any long distance tests? Heard he was pretty quick but wasn't sure how many laps he's done

Maybe a little bit irrelevant but i have to say this:
What I miss more in F1 is drivers/characters like Ayrton Senna, Jean Alesi and maybe the old Jacques Villeneuve (those that I have experienced). I'm not talking about driving skills but personalities who don't just go round and round and comply with all the FIA and teams "politically correct" behaviour. I miss sentiment and crying at the podium. I also miss pure, non-strategic racing approaches. Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonnen, even Fernando Alonso are excellent drivers but not those that the fan will be "connected" to. I hope if the doctor comes along to bring some of this sentiment back in F1.. Maybe its just the era, but who really knows actually..? |

How long would Rossi's free spirit survive in F1?
His bank account would take a hammering on the late arrivals to press conferances, that's for sure. |

he's denying it so strongly at the minute, is it realistic that we'll see him in F1 as early as 2007? surely massa is only in there to keep a seat warm for someone else. raikkonen and rossi would be a fantastic combination and would be one hell of a title fight, and with montoya, alonso and button involved, and should the new rules actually create overtaking, then f1 might be intresting again

i hope we're looking at rossi because of what skill he could bring, not because he's a character.

Well we discuss these driver's characters so much considering they haven't got one! I find character to be on of those traits that someone who has it should be complimented on, but those that appear not to shouldn't be degraded because of it. They may well just have a different character.
Also bear in mind that we have probably the youngest set of drivers for sometime. However there are the team bosses. Now they are a bunch of characters, through in some of the men who run the sport and you have a full deck of characters. |

I heard a funny story on the sports news this morning - Brad Pitt wanted to meet Rossi, but Rossi's management team knocked Brad back, saying, "Mr Rossi will meet you on his terms when he is good and ready. We will let you know."
Must have been a bit of an eye opener for Mr Pitt! |

well for all you doubters out there .... he came 4th in a kart in the italian championship when at age 12, then quit 4wheel racing due to the crazy costs to take it further... took up bikes as they were far cheaper, he didnt come from a well off family to pay for it all like some......
