What does the future hold for rallycross?
I’m not so clued up as much as I used to be. Be nice to no what forum members thoughts on the future holds. Ok WRX electric but hopefully there maybe a resurgent’s in the ERX ? Or is that wishful thinking ?
I attended the 5 nations championship yesterday, better than I thought it would be although it’s still being propped up by the old boys. Nordic, French championships still look ok. Just need ERX like it was before the takeover |

On international level electric rallycross will become important*, on national level I don't think there will change much in coming years.
(*) How important in terms of popularity? I don't think the WRX will get to same level as recent years. |

What Rallycross needs is someone to grab the bull by the horns and run a old school european championship.
Supercars Super national Super 1600 Double up so 2 rounds in 2 weekends , for example…. Lydden Hill / Mondello Dreux / Lousada Maasmechelen / Estering Holjes / Helll Nyirad / Vilkyciai 10 rounds of pure rallycross on proper tracks! |

Good question. One assumes the people running it, think it's far bigger than it actually is. Is it really a World sport? It's 'home' is in Europe - so that's were they should concentrate on getting that right. It's a bit like Cyclocross in cycling; a World Cup with only 2-3 USA rounds outside Europe.
As for who pays for it, well that's the puzzle. Are manufacturers really interested in it? Same issue as the WRC, who are struggling to attract any new manufacturers with their new regs. One gets the feeling that 'off road' motorsport has become the poor relation. |
