Car number

Some series like F1, GP2 etc... issue you with a car number for the season

Some like NASCAR have permanent numbers (eg Petty's 43).

Some let you choose within reason.

How important is the car number you race with?

Does it matter?

What number do you prefer?

Hmm,

A searching question. I race with 36 because it was with that number I had my most successful season. I ran with 18 one year and had my most horrendoues accident.

The CTCRC requires you to register, thus if you wish to keep a number you have to do so early.

easy to alter into each other for different series - not to mention being lighter!

Our friend likes 88 because it's nice and easy for the marshals to read when the car is inverted.

I have number 53. The reason for it is because the guy that ownes the car runs his other car in the series and he has 54. The reason he has 54 is because it was the last 2 digits on the chasis no.

Total digits on two hands minus one

Anyway, permanent numbers can be one helluva bone of contention, but I'll say no more.

It's only 'cos I do similar. I'm 104 in Graduates this year (after coming 4th last year); so I need 1, 4, 10, 14 or something for NW sports/saloons to save literally pence on changing numbers!

Very true Dizzy Rascal. I also will not comment on this due to some legal action....

I always liked 69. No no, not what you think! It stays 69 if the car's upside down. Easy for the marshals. Never ran with it though.

"I think the driver of car 99 should be black flagged for that move!"
"But there isn't a car 99 in this race"
"Then I think the driver of car 66 may need a bit of assistance!"

I recall that being the number of Desiree Wilson's car in the FFord championship in 1978 (ish).
