French SCCT Classic Car Track Days

SCCT‘s concept is born thanks to the oldies car clubs presidents’ thought who were facing a tremendous problem : a few among their members were trying to make sessions on racetrack with historic cars, but unfortunately they were not so many inside their home base to rent a circuit.

The “big” idea is therefore to gather every oldies clubs!

SCCT is intended for leisure on racetrack, and wishes to regroup in the same event where oldies car clubs are meeting, all the sports cars before 1980.

Ambience of the ’60-‘70s era is so particular that it should be deeply felt. As a matter of fact, this will give a great difference from free trial sessions everyone can find on others racetrack events.
During the event, all the collectible cars have access to the track in the day for 15 minutes sessions, without pauses, and are divided into distinct groups of power.
Are admitted the road cars, and also the race cars eligible for VHC, on tourism and GT basis, which are corresponding of the technical rules specifications.
Technical checkings will be done by the brands affiliated clubs representatives who can tolerate, restrict or forbid access to all vehicles that are not eligible within these selection-matches, and a fortiori, those which have been so intensely customized or deeply swapped with modern technologies: programmable electronic injection, turbo, and so on…

We do care for saying that it is not competition, but training during a friendly meeting as it is the SCCT’s aim to give to each club, and as a result to their members, the desire to take benefit of the pleasure given by the secured use of oldies cars on suitable racetracks, with the rhythm that can fit to each participant, to the lowest cost, in a “good old days” atmosphere.

See you soon on the circuits !

Welcome calex_fr. I've pulled the second post for the reasons shown. We can keep the thread if you are prepared to develop the thread into a discussion. I'm assuming this is to be a historic series based in France. What circuits are to be used and who can enter?

Yes I understand.

It's open to all pre 1980 cars (but minies of 80/90's are OK if with carburetors).
It's very open, we close to youngtimer, cars with strange swap like Sub/Alfa boxers on Bug, Electronic Fuel Injection Computer.
Tuning must be in historic spirit.

Hi Peter,
series are like this (3/11/7 at Pouilly) http://www.scct.fr/images/inscrits2.gif
There is not Championship Points for the time. No elegance competion.
ASAP we'll organise championship by type (like Mini, Sedan saloon, Golf GTI, Ford, UScars...) or by power like it's today.

Ah,

So it is a racing series. The regs are close to the Youngtimer regs in which case you'll be looking at Groups 1 and 2 FIA. Will you be scrutinising cars to make sure thay comply with the regs?

No, we aren't fixed on Groups 1 and 2 FIA regs.
We are free, but no swap like Sub/Alfa boxers on Bug, no Electronic Fuel Injection Computer, that's all.

Can I post pictures ?

I'm still not sure what regs you run to or even if its a race series (although I think it might be). If you run historic races you must have some technical regulations. What are they?

And I have absolutely no idea what this

I explain :
We don't want old cars with engine swap like Subaru boxer on VW, Honda engine in Mini...
I repeat : Tuning must be in historic spirit.

Now I understand. By the way the Alfa Sud ran a "boxer" engine as standard, hence my confusion.

As to tuning in the "Historic Spirit", you really will have a massive spread of variants. You could have Capri's running triple carbs or fuel injection because they did that in the 70's (Group 2), or Escorts with BDA engines. It really does seem that you will have many arguments over what is and what is not period tuning.

However there were some awesome seventies Super Saloons and I think this is what you are aiming at so hopefully some of the posters here will get to see your thread.

I am with Peter on this I think the whole thread has been pretty vague and no disrespect calex but I would be surprised if this series is still going in a year. Basically anything goes especially if it is a hot rod, with little supervisioon its likely that driving standards will match preperation!

Sorry to be blunt but it will have limited appeal on this forum I would imagine!!

Hmm,

I think there might be mileage in a series with a structured set of regs even if they are hot rods but you couldn't call it historic racing. The Super Saloons example is where I'm coming from. Standard silhouette but bigger/seriously modified engines. It could work.

It isn't a problem for us.
We make categories by power.
An Escort with 150hp run with other cars of 150hp
An Escort of more 200hp run with other cars of more 200hp.

3 points are important for us :
- security (for everybody)
- historic spirit (car specs)
- power (to dispatch the car).

Yes, but we weren't sure if you were talking about racing or just a track experience. As I understand it from the posts its a track experience (not racing) with cars grouped into power ranges. Therefore not historic racing.
