I want to get into a single seater
The title says it all in more ways than one.
I am after a single seater that I can fit in (I am 6ft 8" tall) and that is cheap (no not cheap for motor sport but actually cheap) Or somewhere I can buy a single seater from that takes credit cards  Any and all help needed. Oh it is to be used for hill climbing so type of single seater does not matter, I am also more than happy to restore an old SS. Cheers Mark |

what kinda budget are you talking about?
what mechanical knowledge have you got? Will you be working on the car yourself? Is this something you are seriously considering or just this weeks idea? Have you got any previous experiance with racing cars? questions question questions sorry mate!! Dc |

Budget is dependent on payment method (not being funny but I have various things coming my way next year but I want to start working on things asap)
Mechanical knowledge for myself is about 60% but I have a friend (and willing pit crew) who is about 95% We are planning to do it our self I have wanted to do this for years and have just got hold of a garage to store and work on so all systems go. I dont have any experiance working on race cars but have done numerous "formula ford days" and the like and have my National Race Licence and all the equipment I need (Helmet, race suit etc) ask away halecmini |

I would look at the following three as good for money racing. Monoposto Any class Formula Jedi any 750mc. Look at the websites or just ask away. |

Hi SPB
I know just what I want to do, I have a real soft spot for hill climb and sprint racing but it is just getting an affordable single seater. Then fitting in the thing I really would be happy with anything!! If anyone has some web addresses of places that sell older (cheaper) single seaters that would also be a great help. Look on www.racecar.co.uk parts bit or (http://212.53.73.128/cgi/forums/YaBB.cgi) Also give a guy called Dermot Healy a bill or email 07703-162409 dermot@btinternet.com. you could neaqrly throw a stone at him from where you are. He allways has a stock off cheap cars & bits for anything. On the note off hill climbs & sprints. I spent as much doing them for about 100 miles of racing a year in short burst off 2 mins max * 4 a weekend, As i do doing about 400 miles in 15 mins x 2 or 4 a weekend in monoposto mono1200. There is a Pilbeam MP40(?) sat in my workshop that belongs to Roger Kilty that I would prefer not to be there. I think that will be reasonably cheap. Just needs an engine and gearbox.

The Pilbeam is big enough for me, im 6'2 and quite big, I think you would fit. Maybe at most have to extend the roll hoop. I'll find out a price that will include a whole load of spare wings, suspension, tub. Id love to see it all gone

Mark that shouldn't be a problem...if your shoe size is over 10 you might struggling. I wear boots that are too small and this helps.

You could consider surgery...or bare foot water skiing!! but seriously over many years of race schooling the fatties gave us much more trouble than tall folk!

Hmmm perhapse I should have mentioned that I also weigh 21 stones......
