Rumours from Monaco suggesting that Williams F1 will be AMG powered from next year.

Joe Saward has mentioned it in his blog and its has also been mentioned on Crash.net. They also say that Caterham are looking at switch to Ferrari for cost reasons but how that will work with their Alpine deal who knows.

That's interesting. Cannot see Caterham switching to Ferrari power for next year. They currently use RBR gearbox and the same engine manufacturer, so it would make sense for all three teams (RBR, STR and Caterham) to use the same running gear.

What sense would switching to Mercedes do for Williams? I can only assume its a better deal financially? I'm certain the Renault engine is good enough, they just need to sort the car out.

About £5,000,000 and don't forget Toto Wolff is still a shareholder at Williams as well as being boss at MB.

It doesn't rhyme. Willams-Renault and Williams-Cosworth do.

Williams picking up McLaren's old Merc supply is intuitive. It's a surprise but it shouldn't be.

Toto Wolff said this Saturday night at Monaco:
Quote:
In the meantime, three of Daimler/Mercedes hierarchy, Niki Lauda, Andy Cowell and Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber were spotted inside the Williams motorhome on Saturday evening. |

You can have an aeroplane engine in that Williams, if Maldonado is driving it matters not a jot.

I'd say going to Williams would make sense. They get a team that they know knows what it is doing, will find the means to pay their bills, will not leave F1 until going out of business (a few years left, yet), but have the bonus of knowing since they are running along the downward spiral are not going to threaten to upstage the works team.
It certainly makes sense to my mind. |

Oh, not so bad. Working, sleeping, and now and then actually getting to do something interesting. Today is going swimmingly, what with Monaco, Indy, and the 600 to come. Some may call it unproductive, but I am going to have to claim the total opposite. The next few months are a bit of a write-off in general...

Williams Mercedes.......hmmmmm.
At this point I think it is safe to say that Cosworth will not be coming to the 'T' party. |

There's an interesting bit towards the end of this article on William's engine history.
