Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
BTC-Touring v Super Touring

Which is better? BTC-Touring or Super Touring?

Okay, mistake corrected - Carrie

Super Touring = Better looking cars / Better sounding cars / more technically advanced cars / Attracted a higher profile driver / Faster cars

BTC Touring = Better racing... er thats it.

Of course the question was-what do you prefer.
Taking out the cost, I liked the ST cars better too!

Super Touring, definatly.

And Group A was better still, but that is getting off topic.

If there was a "no preference" box, I'd tick that. I'm really not that fussed between the two. If I have to go for one I'd go BTC Touring - more overtaking.

Never supported the BTCC back in its good days...so it'd be BTC Touring for me. Having supported the BTCC since 1999 I only ever got the downhill phase (how depressing ?) so now that it's getting back on it's feet it looks wonderful to me, might not be to some of the old timers..just yet ?

Wow, barring any unethical voting behaviour, ST and BTC seems evenly split for support!

I prefer Super Touring rules, the Nissan Primera was the best BTCC car ever.

They may be rep-mobiles but Super Touring beats Super BTCC Production class B (whatever it is). Much faster and much better sounding. And is it me or is there less argy-bargy in the BTCC now? I know pile-driving other cars is unacceptable but a little door handling wouldn't go a miss.

I prefer Super touring from 92-94. Just before the prices went up and the aero kits came in.
Don't quite understand why they needed to change the formula.

I loved the supertourer era, and contrasting last year's farce to a real championship, I'm sure you can see why. But, as with the DTM a few years ago, supertourers were aproaching supercars for cost, and so teams deserted it.

This year's BTCC is a hell of a lot better, and is starting to win my approval. On the other hand, I haven't watched a single ETCC (or whatever it's damn designation is) race all year with Honda's demise and Matt coming back to Blighty.

Now if they could only sort out the whacky ballast system....

If that's what you want to see, go & watch banger racing. Any form of contact is unacceptable at any level of motor racing.

Tell that to the Minis I think you can safely sacrifice the odd wing mirror or wheel arch (CHRIS!!!) here and there for the sake of close racing, but I don't agree with deliberate contact.

Here here. I'd be surprised if you like touring cars cos basically, paint rubbing to getting a knock on the rear quarter IS touring car racing whether it's right or not.

It's got to be Super Touring - The Monster summed it up well - the cars look and sounded soooooo good. The Volvo S40, Ford Mondeo, Nissan Primera, Vauxhall Vectra etc yummy! And the best Touring Car drivers, nowadays, an Aussie like me recognises very few names on a BTCC grid

No it's not! Let's make the distinction between deliberate & accidental contact. In a close race, it's inevitable that mistakes will be made & that contact will happen. Deliberate contact is another matter altogether. Don't forget that contact can often result in a crash, particularly with single-seaters; crashes hurt.

In another thread we're discussing low entry numbers in national championships; one way of reducing entries is to have a couple of headbangers who have a reputaion for being prepared to push their opponents off in their attempts to win races.

I don't think anyone's in favour of deliberate collisons, single seater contact is very dangerous compared to Touring Car contect mainly because all wheels are exposed. Rubbing definitely gets my thumbs up.

if u dont want to see contact, watch V8Supercars altho racing doesnt come with that.

Rubbing IS racing, like it or not, even deliberate contact is usually good to watch. Granted, open wheelers shouldnt be making too much contact, but a usually a deliberate punt in an open wheeler takes you out, while in a touring car the car should be alright. Contact happens, thats it.

BTCC and other touring car championships will always incluide contact. It is even stated in the rules that minor contact is acceptable.
