the big one always looms, but THIS caught my eye on the NASCAR homepage...it does seem like yesterday...how time flys. i find myself wondering WHAT IF as well as thinking of Davey often during the races at 'dega. and this sport and the world in general is really missing the moustaches.
speeds in PRACTICE 1 vs PRACTICE 2 are drastically different, but none of that really matters. just need to be in the tpo 15 or so with less than 5 to go to have a chance. i love plate racing and i hate it. much like many other things |

I love plate racing too, but it has no place in the chase. Unless JJ is involved in an accident, I will say this.

What happened JPM in practice? Didn't get a time in practice 2... and miles off the pace in practice 1... I assume he had some issue?

This is going to be interesting... If you've seen any coverage of practice, there's some odd stuff going on "in the draft". Wreckfest incoming.

Qualifying canceled. Jimmie Johnson inherits the pole.

Another rule change just an hour before the green flag. There will now be no bump drafting OR hooking up with any car AT ANY POINT in the 188 lap race. Drivers WILL be penalized if they do that.
Way to complicate things even further. |

I guess this, potentially, will lessen the amount of two-car hookups we've gotten used to seeing in the plate races in recent years.

I wonder how they'll police it - I mean, what if three cars enter the turn and the third car bumps the second car right before the turn, making the second car bump the first car while in the turn? Is the driver of the second car, who couldn't avoid bumping the car in front, going to be penalized, or will the driver of the third car recieve the penalty?
I have a feeling we'll see quite a few questionable calls made by NASCAR tonight. Edit - Montoya seems to be in a good mood Last edited by rustyfan; 1 Nov 2009 at 17:50. |

wow that was cool.
gordon setup a 20 car bump draft n lap 21. and within one lap they all broke apart like good children at school. |

Sigh, looks like the new rules are turning this race into one of those useless "hey-let's-all-run-bloody-single-file-all-day-long" races we saw a couple of years ago.

I was gonna say the same thing. This is a joke. Now the RP tracks are just like the 1.5 milers now.
Thanks Nascar. I appreciate it. |

The last time we saw this bull**** NASCAR made some changes since they realized it hurt 'the product', and I expect them to realize the fans won't tolerate this very long time time either.

I agree entirely. They're just better off not crying about bump drafting, or better yet, just drop the RPs altogether!!!! |

Finally some action starting to happen....
Edit - ....and it's most likely only because of the pit stops coming soon. Nevermind. |
