After the heat wave that afflicted most all of the central US last year the ALMS racers were probably looking forward to visiting Dallas early in the season, especially to avoid the extremem heat. However, as I write this, less than 4 hours drive from Dallas we are getting icy roads and freezing rain today. The long range forecast predicts 35F to 55F with scattered showers for raceday. The cars willr ace in the rain, but I doubt that they will if it snows or freezes over.

Looks as if it was a good day weather wise, and an excellent day for the new Panoz! Don Panoz had said that he would be happy if they got significant laps in, and he was over the moon that it actually ran third and finished the race without difficulty. I am not sure how I feel about it yet (it still looks like the Batmobile to me) but the pilots are very enthusiastic and they are the ones to be heeded. I'm glad the old Panoz is running as a customer car though. I really like that car.
Congrats to Ron Fellows too, for another win, and I'm glad the other Corvette pilot escaped unharmed from what looked like a very nasty wreck. They said he will not be racing at Sebring and I'm not surprised. Well raced all, and hardly any of the Bumper Car stuff except among the Porsche GT cars (and that one little zetz by Mags ... ) |
