Bathurst 24 Hour Entry List

52 entries have been lodged for the race. Looks like plenty of TBA's at the moment, but 52 starters isn't a bad effort for the first race.

Some interesting ommisions from the lists though:

- No Geoff Morgan Viper, i thought he had a deal with Neal and Rick Bates,

- Only 1 Monaro, not the originally intended 4

Got all this from www.bathurst24hr.com

Given all the rhetoric flying about how much international interest there was, I'd call that entry list extremely disappointing, actually.

I thought Quinn, Richards and Fitzy were going to team up in one Porsche.

10 overseas entries in abit down on the expected, but 52 cars aren't that bad considering how late the event was announced.

Maybe they've got the ****s with the "parity" dished out to the Monaro?

I think 52 entries is pretty good.

I wonder how many of the 52 will actually be starters in the race. With so many TBA's i reckon quite a few will be no show's which is a dissapointment.

Hrmmm interesting, I spose they won't be extending pit lane now?

Maybe Richo and co could get a run in one of the international entries?

That could be what they are aiming for, the 2nd Cirtek Porsche doesn't have any drivers named yet. Pity they didn't enter their own cars though, a Porsche is definatly a favourite to take victory over the 24 hours. I'd say the Mosler and Monaro would be the pacesetters though.

Where is Peter Floyds GT3-RS, and why isn't John Bowe named in one of the PHR Ferrari's?

Geoff Morgan was offered a drive, but it was a lot of money for maybe a couple of laps.
I think it is Magahiri? (you know who I mean I hope), Bowe, Richards and not sure who else now.

I'm surprised they've managaed to find 52 entries, seems a lot to me, though, I'm sure that a lot less than that will actually take the start.

Richo summed it up when he said that 24hrs is about 2 years running for one of these cars and he doesn't want to wear his out. If that seems wrong to you, try working out the tyre budget for one car in this race......

Friends of mine own a motorsport tyre business and have sold tyres to one of the 2lt BMW that is coming over from NZ. $25000 just for the tyres.

Good point there Bucky. I think most of the cars in the race would spending more than their cars are worth.

If anyone goes out really early in the race , they're going to have heaps of tyres left over, going cheap.....

Mt P - I would think that an opportunity exists for a smart fellow such as yourself to make money by selling caffiene/ephedrine products at the 24hr

Wow...Good Point Davd....are you allowed b your tyres as the race progresses or do you have to buy them all up front ?

And exactly how many tyres would the whole field need for this race ?

This is makeing my brain hurt - I'm gonna go lie down....

To do the V8 Bathurst 1000, you need 20 DRY tyres PER CAR, that's just for the race, not counting practice and qualifying.

Most people would have their tyres bought before they get there. Due to the large number of wheel sizes in the race the tyre sellers wont have a great deal of sizes to choose from.
From the tyre guys i know , they are getting the money up front and arent taking anything with them that is not a "common" size. Otherwise they will be stuck with some weird sized tyres.

Bathurst is very easy on tyres, you can go a long way by managing the tyres carefully. The production car Commodore that Colinbond and Myself worked on in the 12 Hour needed a new front right tyre every stop (sometimes sooner!) but was very easy on the other tyres, the left rear was almost new after 10 hours so we pulled it of the back and stuck it on the right front.
You would use 2 right fronts for every left front.
and 2 left fronts for every right rear.
and you should go 24 hours on the left rear!

Of course the teams with money will swap all tyres at every stop!
