Pmr
If you look at the PMR Commodore it has Konica Minolta on the front bumper. Does this mean the rumour of Alan Gurr running in the open series gain more momentum or will it mean the Gurr will partner Morris in the enduros.

Well Spotted - Dunno I think Both may end up been on the cards. Alan Gurr is another with plenty of talent and going places quickly.

It is strange to see a sponsor on the car that doesn't belong to T. Morris

Ive had a theory for a while that Gurr will be with Morris for the enduros, with Sirromets ivolvement with the Smiths team and cars etc. It also wouldnt surprise me on a related subject, to see John F in a HMS car for the enduros either, seeing as one of the teams has lost their enduro squad to another team n'all. Perhaps he will team up with another experienced veteran who has been boxed up for a while.

Also Paul Morris' appearance at Wakefield for the Konica round may have something to do with his involvement with Gurr.

I don't think that PMR are hidding anything. Their press release after Alan's great performance at Wakefield Park to win the open Konica round said that he had been on staff at PMR since October 2003.

It still looks nice As below...
The same Konica Minolta branding is on the windscreen of the Smiths Trucks car Alan Gurr runs, which has Sirromet on the bonnet. Perhaps contra is alive and well. Would make a lot of sense. And Alan Gurr isnt absolutely guaranteed a seat for the enduros with PMM. I presume if he wins or comes close to winning the series, it would stand him in good stead, but by no means a lock. |

Gurr had Konica Minolta as the major sponsor of his "halfa" F3 effort.

Hasn't Allan Gurr had a ongoing relationship with PMR since 2002, and maybe before that. Didn't Gurr test with PMR early in 2002 and wasn't it a PMR developed car that he raced at Bathurst 2003.
Gurr wouldn't know me from a bar of soap but I have meet him a few times and he is a nice fellow and a good driver. Its great to see him in the V8 series and doing well. I would not be suprised to see PMR getting more Konica stickers during the year, especially since they have disappeared from the supa cheap car. |

True, but he needs to stick to a single series, get the appropriate testing and driver development... and as someone perhaps unkind has said to me recently, leave his dad at home to stop interference.

Well there is a fallacy perpetuated in some circles that pure outright dollars can overcome a lack of natural speed.
Sometimes when there are issues with a driver's lack of pace, the equipment is blamed, and more money is pumped in to improve the equipment. A new car, a new engine, a new engineer, a whole new team. Till there is a dissatisfaction, and they move on.. onwards and upwards I suppose, but struggling in the talent side because they never seem to stay anywhere long enough to get used to the engineering types, or to learn how to set the car up, or how to interpret the data and learn how to drive differently, and therefore faster. Impatience isnt that sexy.... |

I have heard that many times, and cringe at the thought.
Having said that, there is a pool of incredibly talented people in the Supercar series working as #1 or #2 mechanics who could interpret what the driver is saying, and make adjustments on the basis of x number of years in the business without the need for data. Sometimes it can be a crutch... Jim Richards for example doesnt like or use data... yet makes most people in any class he is in look amateurish... |

The new need of driver is very data basd though, guts like richards brabham and the likes drove and drive by the seats of their pants, still not a a bad way to drive.

I dont doubt that either, but some drivers could do well to attend one of Mr Rouelle's MoTeC sessions to understand what the data is actually telling them, rather than simply measuring improvements by the change in a wiggly line.

There is a local pi agent here in Australia, or you could source it from pi in the UK... presuming you have access to a large mortgage on your house

Gurr has run Konica sponsorship since the age of 9 in Rookies (karting).
His dad, correct me if I'm wrong, is the Australian distributor/importer for KonicaMinolta. On his day, Alan can drive - well. Don't worry about him. |
