2011 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship | Entries & Changes
The 2011 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship bursts into action in the sunny sands of Abu Dhabi in just under a months time in what promises to be yet another furious race for the Pete55 Memorial Trophy. V8 Supremo Antrodemus took time out from building COTF-shaped sandcastles to share his enthusiasm for the category in 2011, and is confident of a great year. “After the fantastically close finish to 2010, we get 2011 away to a wonderful start here in the Middle East, and this year will present a whole heap of new challenges,” he said. “I’m sure it will be an incredibly exciting year; lots of changes in team land and lots of driver changes so I look forward to it all rolling out again in February.” Now entering its ninth year on Network Ten-Tenths, this series can always guarantee close racing, dodgy officiating, and heated rivalries. The 2011 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship Series is upon us! Gentlemen (and Gentlewomen), Start Your Engines! 1. Drivers You can hire up to 3 drivers to drive your cars, provided that their combined salary comes in below the $2,000,000 Salary Cap. Here is how much they cost:
Other Drivers If anyone else not listed above drives in one of the non-enduro rounds, they will be valued at $200,000. I’ll make a separate call on Jason Richards if he makes his comeback this year. Endurance Drivers Specialist drivers will be available for Phillip Island, Bathurst and Surfers Paradise. More info below. 2. Hiring & Firing As Team Owner/Manager, you are permitted to sack any or all of your drivers in the lead-up to a round, and replace them - so long as you don’t blow the salary cap or 3-driver limit. To sack/hire someone, post here expressing your disappointment in your ex-employee(s), and your hopes for your new driver(s). You will only be charged a driver change if your team is different at the next round, so there is scope to change your mind if need be. The deadline for making changes is the start of first practise. However, you can only do this twice during the season. Phillip Island & Bathurst If you wish, you may use one of your two allocated driver changes to hire some of the Sunday drivers that appear for Phillip Island and Bathurst. Your driver lineup, including enduro specialists, must still fit inside the $2M salary cap, but you will be allowed an extra pilot, so you can have a maximum of 4 drivers at these two races. You will automatically revert to your normal driver lineup after Bathurst, should you choose this option. Note that you do not have to pair up your drivers. The price list for enduro drivers will be released once we know who they are. As an added incentive, the once-a-year brigade also come with generously discounted price tags Surfers Paradise For the Surfers Paradise Invitational, you will be allowed an extra $500,000 over and above the salary cap to add one international superstar (not a regular) to your normal three-driver lineup. If you had some cap room from your regular drivers, you can use it on your international; for example if you only used $1.8M on your 3 regulars, you can spend $700k on your international, for a total of $2.5M. Adding an international does not count towards your two driver changes, but any changes to your regular driver lineup will. As above, I’ll post a list once the international men of mystery reveal themselves. 3. Points: Points are the same as the real series. Whatever a driver scores at each round in real life is what that driver will receive here, including penalties. Your worst round will not be dropped. You will not receive $200 for passing 'Go'. If you notice that your team hasn't scored as many points as you think they should have (or more than they should have ), there are a couple of likely reasons for this: 1) My maths stinks; 2) I missed your driver change; 3) I've only just realised one of your drivers got penalised somewhere along the line. Either way, let me know and I'll fix your score so its 100% correct. 4. Other Things You Should Know As Team Owner: - One team per person, per year. - You don’t have to use all $2 million (at Surfers, this may be advantageous ), but DO NOT GO OVER BUDGET!!! You will be suitably punished (ie. disqualified from the round) if I discover any creative bookkeeping. - A driver can be chosen by more than one team - these guys are consummate professionals and are able to drive 54 cars simultaneously. - Points are the same as the real series. If things don't seem to add up, feel free to point out my mathematical ineptitude. - Round results and championship standings will be posted here following the conclusion of each round. - After the results have been posted, you can report on your team’s performance (or lack thereof). Show us how good you are at distributing propaganda. 5. Team Announcements: Once you’ve picked your driving line-up, give your team a name, announce some sponsors, racing numbers, liveries, grid girls/guys, mascots, overseas technical partners and any other stuff you can think of, and of course your manufacturer of choice, then post here giving a detailed description of the copious quantities of hide your team will kick in the forthcoming season. To make it easy for me, could you please condense the propaganda into this sort of form following your press release: Quote:
Entries are open as of now, so start issuing those press releases! There are a few changes this year, so make sure you've got them noted down Your team can be altered without penalty until first practise at Yas Marina. Comments/suggestions/queries are more than welcome, either here or via PM. May the Fords be with you (or against you as the case may be), Antrodemus Top Dog, WOOFVESCO (World Organiser Of Fantasy Vee Eight Supercar Competitions) |

Axeman Performance Racing is pleased to announce it will be returning to contest this years 2011 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship in their trusty Ford GT40's supplied by Axeman Performance Engineering to chase the Pete55 Memorial Trophy. Returning with the team will be last year's drivers line up, minus Shane Van Cheeseburger, to allow for salary cap tightening, a reduction in car numbers, and the fact he wanted too much money the pesky little (tall) sneak.
As the team principle has slightly changed his tastes in beverage, and now has no money, sponsors Tooheys Extra Dry and Bunnings have had to make way for Boags Classic Blonde and the Australian Taxation Office. Foundation sponsor Black Douglas returns however showing the loyalty that has made it a welcome addition to the Axeman family. Team Line-up is as follows: NAME: Axeman Performance Racing SPONSORS: Black Douglas, Boags Classic Blonde, and the Australian Taxation Office DRIVERS: #1 Jono Webb ($900k) #2 Tony d’Alberto ($700k) #3 Dean Fiore ($400k) Total $2m MANUFACTURER: Ford |

Midnight Spares Racing is set to make it's debut in 2011 in the V8 series.
Formerly a 'cut n shut' operation from the back streets to Thomastown, this team has been forced into a more legal business after a recent police raid. Initial plans to run a pair of 'fully sick' VL turbo Commodore's were shelved when imported components destined for the cars were seized by customs, due to a suspicious white powder found inside the parts. While the team is coy about where it's 2 freshly painted FG's came from, the team owner stated "I made the car builder an offer he wasn't allowed to re... sorry, an offer he couldn't refuse. So excited with the offer he also offered the services of his star driver!". NAME: MSR (Midnight Spares Racing) SPONSOR: Spiro's Mobile Kebab Service DRIVERS: CAR #72: Mark Winterbottom CAR #73: Steve Owen MANUFACTURER: Ford |

Well done Antro! Thanks for all your hours at the 'puter!
This team took a forced lay-off last season after testing positive to performance inhibiting substances. But for 2011, AP returns to the Championship with new backing from the Boys in Blue and Sudafed. Running in 3 unmarked cars in 2011 will be Drug Squad Racing Will Davison Steve Owen and Dean Fiore Unveiling the new livery, team Principal AP announced that with a flick of a switch the roof lights could be activated and all the other cars would immediately slow and form up in single file behind. And anyone that drifted too far off the back bumper would get a drive through... AP |

ANDREW DENMAN RACING 8th OFFICIAL SEASON FOR THE ENDURANCE SPECIALISTS OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE/2011 TEAM LAUNCH The Championship would not be complete without one of the veteran cornerstone backmarker sprint round/front runner endurance round teams. Since 2004 Andrew Denman Racing has been competing in the championship taking the fight up to all and sundry. For the first time since David Thexton's departure and subsequent replacement in 2004, the team has expanded to become a 3 car entity. Jason Bright, a team driver in 2009 returns to the fold to provide the experience of the trio. Joining him are Warren Luff and David Reynolds. Once again we will be planning to use the specialist enduro drivers like we have done ever since we have entered the championship for the first time. DRIVERS #33: Jason BRIGHT #27: Warren LUFF #51: David REYNOLDS SPONSOR PORTFOLIO Once again, our partnership with Mission Foods in conjunction with the Western Bulldogs FC and the Queensland Firebirds Netball team continues, with a red/white/blue livery for most rounds and a maroon/gold/white livery for the Queensland rounds. A special one-off Bathurst scheme will be revealed in due course. We thank the following backers for their support, not all of whom are on the car but still support us in their own way. - Mission Foods (Major backer) - Western Bulldogs FC - Queensland Firebirds - Worksafe Victoria - KooGa - Dunlop - Ford - Burson Auto Parts - Turtle Wax - Powerade - Australia Post - Beta Tools - Bosch LIVERY FOR ROUNDS BASED OUTSIDE OF QUEENSLAND (Inspired by Glenn Seton's Ford Credit cars of the mid-late 1990's) Once again we have decided to be a traditionalist and keep the number on the door where it belongs. Qld Rounds and Bathurst livery to be released in due course. MICK JEFFREY OWNER/CO-FOUNDER ANDREW DENMAN RACING |

STEALTHY MOTORSPORT would like to announce new naming rights sponsor Samsung coming on board across all 3 cars, after SM exceeded expectations in 2010. As such SM will be known as Samsung Racing for 2011. Driver line up see's 2010 pilots Jonathan Webb and Dean Fiore return for another year on their contract. Steve Owen joins them as the 3rd driver after impressive 2010 enduro drives.
Russell Ingall shipped off to the retirement home after disappointing results in 2010, and Tony D has been let go due to budget restrictions/pit boom avaliability. Coming on board as secondary sponsor is Thermaltake Australia. Continuing minor sponsorship is Lego (also supplying pitlane entertainment between stops). Farmers Union, Lynx, AAPT, and Australia Post also return. Billabong, Stihl, and Chep have reduced their motorsport budgets, and as such will just feature as minor sponsors on all team cars. Quote:

Team Principal Jason Roberts has revealed a new and exciting major technical alliance and sponsorship agreement with aviation entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, who is also Team Principal for Marussia Virgin F1 Racing. Branson had apparently kept a keen eye on the V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship last year had contacted Mr. Roberts just after the season closed with a proposal to set up a V8 camp under his F1 team’s name.
Marussia, a Russian sports car manufacturer was hesitant at first about there name being plastered onto a foreign product but after negotiating with the team and Sir Richard for exclusive rights to the company cars of the newly formed V8 squad and Virgin fleet, a deal was struck. “When Richard called me on the phone,” said a laughing Jason, “I yelled ‘HELL YEAH’ I’d love to set up with you guys.” “The process of restructuring the team with some F1 personnel has been uneventful and very smooth, I believe the partnership will be very successful and hope to see it continue into the future” Sir Richard was quoted as saying. With this racing marriage, the V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship now has a team with F1 roots, strengthening its resolve to win the 2011 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship. Without further ado we present to u Marussia Virgin V8 Racing NAME: Marussia Virgin V8 Racing SPONSORS: Marussia, Virgin, QNET, Oxigen, Carbon Green, LG DRIVERS: #71 Jamie Whincup ($1,400,000) #72 Steve Owen ($500,000) MANUFACTURER: Ford FG Falcon |

The Champions Are Back
H C Motorsports the 2010 V8SCFC Champions are back for their 5th season and ready to defend their title. The cars and driver line up were released to sponsers and media at a function at the teams factory on the Gold Coast today. Team Owner Hayden was pleased to announce a new naming rights sponser for the team and said "that winning last years championship made it very easy to get a high profile big budget sponser on board". The team will now be known as ETIHAD Racing after the airline giant agreed to come aboard with a multi million dollar deal, Other new sponsers have come aboard with Ford renewing its support to the champion team and providing factory support for the team to try and go back 2 back, Caltex have seen the value in being the teams fuel sponser and the V8SCFC season opening Yas Marina Circuit is also apart of this great team, MAN Trucks have continued their support for what is their 5th season with the team aswell. Also the driver line up is somewhat different from their championship winning line up from last season, "but some things were out of our control", with James moving to HRT this season we had to look for someone that could fill his shoes and not only that fill his rather large helmet that would sometimes struggle to fit his ego in aswell. H C Motorsports is pleased to have the services of Mark Witerbottom who is luckly enough to be given the keys for the teams chamionship winning #1 car, Dave Reynolds joins the team in #111 and Dean Fiore returns for his second season in the team in his #333 machine. Bring on 2011.
With the salary packages this year I think we will be in for a close fort championship, Thanks Antro for again running this comp. The Teams details are as follows. Team - ETIHAD Racing Sponsers - ETIHAD Airways, FORD, MAN Trucks, Caltex, Yas Marina Circuit Drivers Car #1 - Mark Witerbottom ($1,300,000) Car #111 - David Reynolds ($300,000) Car #333 - Dean Fiore ($400,000) Manuacturer - V8SCFC Ford FG Falcon |
