He's under contract for next year. To be honest I'd imagine it was permanently confirmed, subject to contract wrangling, for ever more - but even the contract is firm for 2004.

He was the second driver confirmed this year after Webber (months ago).

His contract reputedly includes a clause that he can leave at any time if he decides he's had enough, but I doubt he'll bring that into effect this year.

No. Schuey is under contract until the end of 2006, and, if you want my opinion, will race until then. I have a sneaky suspicion he may race on after 2006; don't know why, just a feeling.

As long as they give him a decent car, he'll keep battling. Rubens, however, is another story... Mmmmnnn, Fisichella...

Hehehehe, I know it sounds funny or weird..., BUT !, he can go away any time if he wants, so after getting his 6th Title, he can spend more time with his family...
PS: Just for the records..., I want him to stay for coming years. Last edited by Speed; 30 Sep 2003 at 15:54. |

Yeah Speed, but his seat IS confirmed! 100% And, by contract, his presence is confirmed too.

Good to see you back here Red - missed ya buddy... If I were Michael, I would retire - nothing left to prove, beautiful wife, kids, so much money he doesn't know how to spend it... But, the guy just *loves* to compete, so I think he'll see out his contract.

As Martin Brundle was saying during commentry, MS seems to be enjoying his racing and will he leave Ferrari out in the cold like that? Ferrari still dont have a replacement lined up to jump in Michael's seat , Massa is still an unknown quantity. I think hell stay not only because of FERRARI but he still wants to win but and it is evident by the way he has fought for his WDC!

I've been thinking about this since yesterday (not by this thread, but something that R said)
In R's post (in another thread) he said that he felt that Michael would retire with 6 wdc's and 70/71 GP wins. (which is also something i stated at the beginning of the season) Then i got myself thinking about Sir Franks statement last week about the Williams line up for Oz in 2004, maybe, just maybe Michael will retire and either JPM or Rafe will be in the red car (if it's not JPM he'll be in the grey car) Ok, ok, i know it sounds far out, but the mind starts thinking funny things when the season nears its end |

He'll leave in a big wooden box.
As will the rest of the team. Ferrari seems like such an unbreakable team. You sense they work for each other and not one of them would dare leave first. Few years yet....... Last edited by Knowlesy; 30 Sep 2003 at 19:12. |

Having said that, it is getting close. He missed his family terribly at the start of this season and the death of his ol' lass won't have helped.
But he enjoys his racing, so I doubt it will be this winter. |

That's the key, really. Schuey, unlike many GP drivers who reach milestones, still adores the competition. By contrast, one sensed that Prost, by the end of 1993, was tired and a bit sick of it all. Likewise, I don't think Senna would have retired for some time after '94, because he lived for the thrill of battle. After all, what would Schuey do with his time? No, expect to see Schuey in a red car at Melbourne 2006, and, who knows, maybe '07 too.
