Michael will retire the same year Rubens is shown the door imo.

I think if ever Barichello were to be replaced, maybe Jacques Villeneuve. Though they have talked about it, Villeneuve did not want to be 2nd to Shumacher, and Shumacher did not want Villeneuve to be his 2nd.
Most probobly because Shumacher knows Villeneuve will do better then him There is something that is bothering me though. What was those "hello" hand gestures between Villeneuve and Shumacher just after the race ended? They did not wave to anyone else... |

I think Rubens is very underrated. Alot of people are always saying he's going to be replaced, but I think he's going to be around for quite awhile. He hasn't had his best year, but neither has Michael or Ferrari.
JV doing better than Michael Cobra, Ohhhh that is a good one, you had me laughing for 10 minutes with that joke... back at you! God help Ferrari if they ever take on JV, he would certainly be the ruination of a great team! |

Barrichello will be booted when TGF retires. And I think it'll be at the end of next year.

I don't see a reason for them to get rid of Rubins. He does fine and seems content to be second fiddle. They're never going to find another driver with his talent who is willing to do that.

If TGF wins the WDC then he will retire at the end of this year. At least that would be smart of him to do. Anyway I do think that he is going to win. Indy is Williams circuit, but Ferrari will be good enough for second and then Suzuka is Ferrari and Bridgestone territory. I think that yesterday, TGF won the WDC and I am sure that if he wins he retires. If he doesn't than he is an idiot.
Cheers, |

If Michael continues past 2004, I don't think Ruebns will have his contract renewed. In that case, I expect Massa, assuming he does well at Sauber next year, but I'd rather see them build the team around someone else. Montoya or Alonso would be ideal, butpromising youngsters ike Bourdais and Wirdheim shouldn't be overlooked. Both have already proved themselves more than Felipe.

I quite agree. Rubens' problem is that, while he can be fast, and, on his day, can beat anyone out there (see Silverstone 2003), he can't be relied upon to churn out the results at every meeting, and I don't think he can lead the team once Schuey retires (which, IMHO, won't be until the end of 2006 AT LEAST). What Ferrari need, as I've written elsewhere, is someone to partner Schuey until he retires and then assume the mantle of team leader. A few names off the top of my head: Heidfeld, Webber, Alonso, Button, Wirdheim, Montoya. Massa? I'm still sceptical.

I don't know if Rubens will ever drive for Ferrari without Schumacher. I don't think a Fisichella/Massa lineup would be too far off the mark. Who knows? They'll be at Sauber next year, maybe Ferrari can reel them in from there, and swap them for Rubens in 2005? Who knows. It's anyone's guess.

Why would Ferrari want Massa to drive? Sauber effectively fired him at the end of last year.

I think while TGF is still at Ferrari, they should out RB and look for someone who is going to be like 'the next Kimi'. It would suit TGF as he won't be a threat to him but it could be someone who can score good Constructors points whilst he learns.
VB, what happened to your Montoya theory? |

Everything is pointing to RB keeping his seat alongside TGF. That thing about nothing signed yet, second to his manager, is about differences in contract's dates between him and the other staff members and TGF.

Ferarri need to either groom a leader to replace MS - Rubens probably thinks he's it, as does Massa. Badoer surely has given up hope - or be prepared to poach a star from elsewhere.
I reckon that they go with the latter option - its more expensive, but that seems to matter little to the Scuderia. In which case, it depends on when MS retires and who is available: end 03 - JV (hehehehehehe ) end 04 - JPM (may be a bit "latin" for the new Ferarri) end 05 - MW (forza Webber has a nice ring to it) end 06 - FA (see JPM) end 07 - SURELY HE CAN"T GO ON THAT LONG FOR !@#$ sake!!? |

although Fernando alonso at Ferrari would be blazing.
he isn't 'too latin' in fact since he is from the next country over the water. Montoya is south american and even though blinding fast when he want to be, I think ferrari wants to keep a european #1 especially after the michael years. JV- as stated before- if he can't out drive button, no matter how good of a driver he is, He is gonna look like a minardi next to shumi. |
