Autosport mags.....value?
Hi there,
I've just been offered a complete set of 1992 Autosports. The price? 35 quid. Does that price sound right? I'm tempted as I was a massive mansell fan and I love Autosport but 35 quid is a lot of money. So does that seem right? Cheers, knowlesy |

It is a lot of money and it could be spent on purchasing one or more books dedicated to Nige and they would take up a lot less room.

Yeah, but I've got most of his books, that's the problem.
I need to feed my mansell rage! But not if I'm being ripped off. |

Compared to their original cover price its not bad, and some individual issues can fetch a few pounds, but on the whole old Autosports should not be that expensive to get hold of. Dare I mention it, but if you wait long enough on ebay you may be able to pick up what you want. I was lucky enough to get Autosports from 1993-2002 for £14 last year, with only about 3 issues missing.

£35 sounds a bit steep to me. But then again, it depends how badly you want them.....

The problem with eBay though is that people charge excessive postage to make up for any loss they've made on the sale. Some charge up[ to 20 pounds too much for postage....amazing!

You are welcome to Autosport GP reviews for 85, 86, 88 and 92. Plus British GP guides 89 and 91. Just cover the p&p.

Knowlesy - try posting a years supply of Autosports and see if you can do it any cheaper!
The cheapest method I found was to send via a 24hr door to door courier and that weighed in at around 12 quid plus VAT... |

PS I wouldn't pay anywhere near that to be honest. Where are you located?

Whitehaven, up north in Cumbria!
Or a bermuda triangle called life. You'll find they're roughly similar! |

Ah, right, about as far from both myself and Carrera as you can get then! I think I might have been there once - isn't it near Workington??? I even had ideas about leaving them for collection from one of our offices but the closest is Wilmslow and that's a fair drive from you still! Sorry matey - best I can suggest would be to keep looking for a seller that is close enough to you for you to collect or maybe drop them a line if you're planning to go to a race meeting and enquire if they might be going - at least a couple of times I've met someone at a racetrack and taken some magazines off their hands!

Try the specialists such as Pooks in Leicestershire. I'm sure for such relatively recent issues they would be cheaper after a brief haggle....

It wasn't that bad... I had already stopped in Heysham that day...!!! hehe
Other places to try would be Simon Lewis Transport Bookshop (I can recommend personally) and Collectors Carbooks who are based at Silverstone (not used their mail order but a friend has and recommends them highly. Oh and one of the staff here works for them too!) |
