Bad news for Ford fans

I read in today's Herald-Sun newspaper that Mark Skaife has signed with HRT for another 5 years.

Thats good then,he can spend the next 5 years following the Fords around then.Everyone knows 2003 will be the year of the Fords, and they could dominate for at least the next 5 years.

And how is that bad news?

I remember the last time he drove a Ford he pulled out after half the season because "everyone kept running into him"

Its Not bad news by the time he gets the chance to win another Championship ( In 2008) he'll be too damn old.

At least we have someone to pick on and laugh at for 5 more years.

Whats the bet, he loses next 3 championships big time, spits the dummy and ends up as a TWR had been Enduro Driver and Manager completely screwing up the team..... Anyone remember when he tried to take over the management of the out of funds Gibson Motorsport.

At least we know if hes at HRT for 5 years he aint coming to ford and thats all that matters.

Typical Tall Poppy syndrome. You need to realise that Skaife is the best driver and that get used to seeing back of his car as that's all you see again this year, with Ambrose close behind.

Are you trying to tell everyone that Skaife is better than Ambrose,Bowe,Seton,Ingall,Murphy,Lowndes etc... The drivers I just mentioned plus a few I haven't would all match if not beat Skaife in equal equipment (Lowndes has already proven it). You are strengthening my belief that most HRT fans are clueless.

good driver yes, as much as i hate to admit it
best driver highly debatable, i seem to remember when gibson lost the tobacco sponsorship yet still had all of the good stuff he was getting beaten by privateers, whats that say about him

it wasnt a supprise to see hrt re-sign him

You seem to have short memories, didn't Lowndes have equal equipment to Skaife in 2000, who won that championship?? And who then decided to leave and go to Ford. The best team has the best driver so you can cry all you like but HRT will continue to dominate and break records. And doesn't Murphy have then same equipment as Skaife as well? The only good thing that you Ford supporters is Ambrose.

Tricky why would he bother going to Ford when they continue to self destruct.

I don't think he'll even be 40 by the time 2008 comes around will he? That is hardly too old.

Short memories? Was that the year Skaife stole Lowndes's engineering staff? The same year HRT tested without bothering to let Lowndes know? Murphy has the same equipment as Skaife does he,why don't you go have a chat to Murph about that. Do you have any idea about why Lowndes left HRT? My opinion about HRT fans is not getting any better.

You are just what confirming what I always thought, you can't handle seeing Skaife dominate and being such sore looses. Yet again the Tall Poppy Syndrome strikes again.

I really hope ford do good this year, I like some of the ford drivers and I think they are going to do really well. But god why don't you all get a life and stop bagging Skaife, he might have a big nose and all but if he wasn't good he wouldn't be up the front winning would he now.

I'm a Holden fan but not as much as i used to be and i agree Skaife is not necessarily the best driver out there. He's good but so are a fair few of the others. I'd go so far as to say John Bowe would be a better driver than Skaife and then probably Ambrose and Lowndes.
Watch out when Rick Kelly has a few years behind him though, i reckon he will be pretty darn good.

Should have added that Skaife is only one piece in the team at HRT. He is only as good as the car he is in.

its quite funny to see him have a bad first race, and suffer being a midfield driver.

although im a Skaife supporter, it will probably be 1998 all over again.

And he is in the best Pete, so can someone explain how that somehow makes him the best driver? Stick Lowndes in car 2 for a few laps and I would put my money on Lowndes, although it will never happen.
So tell me Scott, is Todd Kelly your new number 2 on the favourite drivers list? Its starting to get a bit old, this whole idea of people putting the sleepers on and just going for 'them red holden cars what I seen on Sports Tonight, with that skasey guy'.

Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Hang on hang on the BEST driver did race for hrt at bathurst with skafie ,JIM RICHARDS!
as for Marks deal big! Big deal I'm looking foward to the reasons why HRT stop winning on V8 superstars because remember Mark doesn't make mistakes isn't that right LRT!

Rhys, no Todd Kelly is not my 2nd favourite driver. In actual fact I'm a very keen supporter of Glenn Seton and Craig Lowndes. The reason I support HRT is because Skaife is there, I've followed him right through his career and would follow him no matter what type of car he is driving. If he raced a VW I would still support him. I'm not a Holden or Ford Fanatic, I actually think the BA Falcon Racecar looks awesome. I just got a bit sick of the Skaife bashing. I understand that a lot of people don't like him but I think I'm entitled to have a driver that I follow with a passion.

It sounds like Ford fans are slightly miffed that Skaife's one Holden driver they can't get their hand's on.

If i was a Ford Team i would go for Rick Kelly or Jason Bright over Skaife. If Skaife had have raced an AU he would have had major dummy spits over that car.
