WPS
So who has got the goss on who has bought the licence's, cars, etc
WPS/WOW Racing team owner Craig Gore has announced that his team has withdrawn from the V8 Supercar Championship Series because of personal business and health commitments. The Gold Coast-based businessman has sold his two Team Licence Agreements to undisclosed parties with the blessing of the Touring Car Entrants Group of Australia (TEGA) and the team’s cars and equipment are to be sold separately |

Well this will help the Black Wiggle get his 26-28 car grid.
Sad day for the sport and for the drivers and crew now without a job. |

Yeah you have to wonder about the futures for the crew and drivers. I dont know if there are any real possibilities left, maybe they will be snapped up for an enduro seat.

So if we put one and one together, this would also be a reason why the TA Champ Car team missed the opening test of the year. Wonder how Will feels about this. Shame that we should lose such a character of our sport, he came in and tried to do it his way, failed, and left. Is it a coincident that the same week TC comes out says he wants to reduce our grids, one of his best mates then sells up to soften the blow, all TC can talk about is how good V8Supercar is, when infact the series is imploding on itself because too many people were pushing there own wheelbarrows a few year back and wouldnt make any hard decisions on how to make it more affordable for ALL teams not just 3 or 4.

So why can't the team run, just because the owner can't attend the race meetings? This is Craig Gore, the businessman who came into the sport saying he didn't have any prior interest in racing (despite previous family involvement), and was just there to build the profile of his companies.
The only time the team looked like be able to achieve any sort of decent results was when Gore stepped aside and Larko was running the show. As soon as Gore came back, the cars returned to the mid/back of the field. The idea that the team should be shut down because Gore is too unwell/busy to manage it personally anymore is ridiculous........... |

Well the Mark Larkham thread was timely. (deliberately it seems)
Gore gives money. He doesnt really run the day to day motorsport activities. He is a business man, not a team manager. So when his business acumen tells him to quit flogging a dead horse, he chooses to invest elsewhere. This news said nothing about Team Australia Champ Car going under. It would have been nice to see Larkham buy the team (back?) at a discount and give them a kick in the backside. |

Anyway, all I know about WPS after the millions they have spent on their V8Supercar program is that........... a) they exist, b) they are a financial planning service, and c) they have no idea where to spend money in order to get decent results. Brilliant. |

So now its time for the knockers to come out. Gore maybe flamboyant, he may be loud and he may be rambunctious. He was also heavily invested, tried his guts out and supported all forms of Motorsport in this country when sponsors where hard to come by. Yes he invested in a team to build his companies profile, aint that the reason all sponsors get involved in this sport....difference being that the sponsor owned the team........I say Craig, thanks for the memories and good luck with all you do...your time amongst us will long be remembered for many reasons. Now lets see the bargains at the garage sale, lots of very nice and perfectly presented transporters, buses and equipment here.

Interetsing slant in tonight's enews (http://enews.mnews.com.au) - says"the drivers are under contract, but the terms and conditions are confidential and will be worked through". Does that mean Bargs and Wilson get ****ed? Gore gives the reason for his quitting as his ear infection and the doctor telling him to stay away from noisy race tracks, yet hes still going ahead with the Chamnp Car team????? Something fishy there. Just another big-noting businessman who thought it would be so easy going out the back door when the going got tough.

Surely Stone Brothers would have considered the blindingly quick Max Wilson as an instant front-runner and snaped the speedy driver up to go and give Courtney a hard time, compared to Van Gisbergen's rookie development program!!! Quite a shame!

If the WOW Sound & Sight funding was at commercial rates, why wouldnt it have ended up at Chez Walden or on a 2nd PCR car or similar...

Or more likely the balance of their contracts will be paid out in full and then they will be free agents, fairly normal practice. Its probably more of a question of whether payment is made up front or in instalments and how it is classified for tax purposes.

The results are: 1) You know they exist 2) You know they are financial advisers 3) A high percentage of every finance mortgage broker in the country has had a ride in the WPS falcon and now flogs Gores services. 4) As above plus corporate box at the track fro BIG bosses of financial institutions. 5) Has probably exposed more power brokers to the series than he will be given credit for. 6) was actually very competitive given the equipment. 7) WPS will always be known for taking on the big boys.
