Liz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the gridLiz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Someone sent me the odds for the F1 season and the First Race, reminding me that I had not yet placed my bets. (I had a dismal season last year - thank you Eddie Jordan) but hope springs eternal.

Interestingly, the betting site I use (details on request - no free advertising) gives Championship Odds EXCLUDING Ferrari and McLaren, if desired. JPM is 4/1 without them and 40/1 with. I bet on him in both. Yes, I probably HAVE lost my mind. Also backed Jean Alesi each way at 200/1.

My question is this: When you bet, if you do, do you bet your heart or your brain? Personally I think it is absolutely no fun to bet McLaren and Ferrari for every race even if I am more likely to win. I bet with my heart.

I have entered a pick six competition at work a few times but it always seems to be the people that know the least about motorsport that take home the big bucks at the end of the season. Some weeks I'd bet with my brain and the others with my heart but it didn't seem to make much difference. It's hard to pick mechanical failures and accidents. I almost put money on Zonta in his first season (as a heart bet) because he was 400/1.

What's the deal with the odds with or without McLaren and Ferrari? Are they asking you to pick 5th place or something?

My heart is with JPM this year too, closely followed by JV.

I never bet. I mean not with money or material things...
Religion ...just kidding... I don't use to do it.

When it comes down to money I always forget about my heart and focus on my brain. I recall that back in the 94 world cup for some reason (I credit mass insanity) everyone was betting for Colombia to win it. However I wasn't stupid and I bet on Brazil. As a result I got a lot of money when the world cup ended. And it's not that I didn't want colombia to win it but.....

It's the same thing with F1. Though I'm a mad fan of Juan Pablo and there's not a sigle doubt in my mind that he's the guy to look after in the near future.....I would place all my money on Michael Schumacher for the 2001 championship despite how much I hate him.

For some reason which I cannot explain, I have a strange feeling that this will be DC's year. It's a hunch that just came to me. What are the odds on DC, Liz??

Odds Shmods, they are only representative of their predictions of where people will put their money. Odds have absolutely nothing to do with who they think will win the championship.

(ie popular drivers will likely be ranked higher than unpopular ones regardless of their actual talent).

As always I agree with my good old friend Sharky. No matter what your heart tells, you must follow the brain. This season I will also place my money on TGF, wether I like him or not. But I still have some money to spend betting on montoya´.

My brain tells me the odds on TGF are too short. IMy gut feeling is that DC might finally have a Goodyear, instead of a Dudstone.
