Unsafe Bets?
If you had too put your house on one of the following in 2005 which would it be?
1) Someone other than M Schumacher to win the drivers title. 2) A last race title decider. 3) Minardi scoring 5 points or more 4) Sato outscoring Button at BAR 5) Coulthard winning for Red Bull |

Crikey that is hard. An accumulator on all five would produce big winnings! (or more likely the loss of your house)!
I think of those above the most likely is, er, 1. Although if this does happen it might be via 2. Last edited by Adam43; 18 Jan 2005 at 22:19. |

2 isn't entirely inconcievable, especially if Ferrari start badly. The others are all extremely remote, although it's possible that Button will lead Sato until Hungary, but be outside his 70%-of-Ferrari requirement, will decide to lead, and then the team favouring Sato, and his using that to overhaul Jenson's tally.

2) with so many races, this is seriously doubtful 3) change the 5 to a 1 and I'd still have issues 4) I pick this one... 5) never gonna happen DKGandBH |

I think....... 1) I don't think so (injury apart). 2) I don't think so, but it would be nice. Any bet I might make would be here, not too sure about my house tho', I might stretch to a fiver. 3) Ditto 2 - but no fiver. 4) Too many 'ifs and buts' surrounding BAR at the moment - I like my house. 5) Winning what? Points - possible A race? - unlikely The WDC - as likely as pigs flying methinks. How would you bet DFB? Last edited by Pitstop; 18 Jan 2005 at 22:54. |

Very tough but I would probably go with 5Pts for Minardi. The new tyres may lead to more retirements.
BTW its coulthard to win a race. |

If I had to, I'd pick #4. I think Taku is WDC material. I think Jenson had a very good year last year, but ultimately he will prove to be the Beckham of F1.

1) not impossible but it would have to be a 2003 type year
2) probably the most likely of the 5 3) let's hope so but only if they have a star like Webber/Alonso 4) i think this could happen 5) not likely. not even a podium. I can see 10-15pts though. |

All of you guys willing to bet on Sato outscoring Button - I'll take your money! wat odds would you give?
BTW, all the bookmakers have Sato at least 10 times the odds of Button for WDC. Last edited by Glen; 19 Jan 2005 at 09:47. |

I'd be willing to bet a little on Coulthard winning for Red Bull. Remember Monaco 96?

I'll take your bet too Red! Considering that (I'm pretty sure) Toyota will move up to serious mid-field status and Sauber will at least remain solid performers, there will just be too many cars finishing well to give RBR a sniff of a point, let alone a podium or (now we are in the realms of fantasy) a win.
Being generous, I'd give DC half a dozen points at most in 2005. |

I am already on hat-eating comittments - but I'll go for another one: If DC gets a podium I'll eat my hat.
He just won't. Get over it - get real. |

My bet for the 2005 season will be a Massa podium. The guys a star, and if he doesn't get a podium he will be very unlucky. But I'm confident he will.

How about Sato wining the championship, at the last race of the season coming second to Coulthard in the race, with Minard's in 6th and 7th. now theres a bet.

Here are some fun odds, from Gamebookers.com
__ Any driver to finish all 19 races of the 2005 season. *7/2 Any driver to finish in the “points zone” in all 19 races of 2005. *9/1 Any driver to finish on podium all 19 races of the 2005 season. *50/1 Any driver to win all 19 races in 2005. *500/1 Less than 4 different drivers to win a GP in 2005 *2/1 4-6 different drivers to win a GP in 2005 *1/2 7 or more different drivers to win a GP in 2005 *10/1 Jenson Button to win at least one GP in 2005 *1/1 David Coulthard to win at least one GP in 2005 *22/1 David Coulthard to get at least one podium place in 2005 *5/1 Any British F1 driver to win at Silverstone in 2005 *14/1 F1 Drivers' Championship 2005 Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) *11/20 Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren) *6/1 Juan Pablo Montoya (McLaren) *6/1 Rubens Barrichello (Ferrari) *10/1 Jenson Button (BAR-Honda) *14/1 Fernando Alonso (Renault) *20/1 Mark Webber (Williams) *25/1 Ralf Schumacher (Toyota) *33/1 Takuma Sato (BAR-Honda) *50/1 Jarno Trulli (Toyota) *100/1 A few choices from that lot: Trulli is thought four times less likely to take the WDC than Ralf. Ralf's odds in the Toyota are just slightly longer than Webber's in the Williams. Big differential in odds for Jenson vs Sato. DC for a podium 5/1 - yea, right. 50/1 would be more like it. |

Anyone of them could happen but I can't say the most unlikely.
On the other hand Minardi can, it's not possible, to score some nice points. In '03 (the brilliant year) Jordan were well, poor but they scored some nice points when Fisi clamied his first and at the moment only victory, although it was a dramatic race. Last edited by luke; 21 Jan 2005 at 20:28. |

I was given odds of 100/1 on Michael winning every race this season which I have to say is fairly low.
An interesting one I found was: Who will get the second seat at Red Bull Racing Liuzzi 9/10 Klien 9/10 Alex |
