JAS's car will not be a works one and they are looking for drivers with a budget.
The real Hondas will come from Prodrive in 2006 that is why Richards was in Monaco at the WTCC launch on friday...

Feels a bit strange for Honda to dump JAS after that time to go for Prodrive.

Rumor has it that in the severence package that D. Richards obtained to exit BAR F1, Honda works op. in WTCC was included. Seems true because Richards was present at the WTCC launch ceremony in Monaco last friday.

Is it? After all Prodrive are a much bigger operation and will probably do a better job of running and developing the cars than JAS would have.

I guess it was a case of : "ok I'm leaving BAR but you're going to give me your WTCC program..."

Sad to see loyalty/enthusiasm does not pay off. So will Prodrive have to start from scratch? Or did JAS have to give Honda all their engineering/technical info they gathered on the Civic/Accord these past few years? It seems silly for Honda to have to start from scratch again with Prodrive if they didn't get technical experience from the JAS effort?

Or was JAS a totally private effort?

They could race a Civic Super 2000 in national championships. They also sell a very successful kit for Group N Civics.

JAS will assist the official STCC Hondas. One Accord and one Civic.

Last year there were rumours a Japanese former bike racing driver would race for JAS in ETCC.
