British F3, Rounds 11 & 12, Thruxton

British F3 moves to Thruxton this weekend, which, believe it or not, is the fastest circuit the Series visits, faster even than Monza!

Expect the unexpected; the pre-race test on May 28th was a wash out, so it's very much a venture into the unknown as the drivers go straight into qualifying. There's a full preview here, with links to the the entry list, the timetable and a lap of the circuit with Snetterton double race winner, Michael Devaney.

Current points in the International Class are here and in the National Class here. This is the halfway point in the season and everything's still wide open. Atte Mustonen took his first race win at Thruxton last year and might well get his title bid under way this weekend.

Finally, you should be able to get full results and live timing from here.

Thruxton is a very difficult circuit for a new team to get to know. Last year Ultimate really struggled, but Michael Devaney finished 9th and 5th for them this year, so they have made a lot of progress. In fact in race 2 Michael was battling with Sergio Perez, who is now back in the lead of the title chase by a single point.

Brendon Hartley made it a double in race 2, leading home Oliver Turvey and Jaime Alguersuari for a Carlin 1-2-3. Report and results here.

It's hard to think of a season where the standard has been so consistently high, with at least ten drivers in with a chance of a race win. Today's results mean that the points table has closed up considerably.

The National Class battles were terrific today. In race 1, Andy Meyrick took the win, but only by 6/10ths from closest rival, Jay Bridger, whilst in race 2 T-Sport's Steven Guerrero took a maiden win after fighting with Bridger and Meyrick for about half the race. The winning margin was less than half a second this time. It was great stuff.

Yes, they did. The pre-race test was on May 28, which was before Litespeed got on track, so there wasn't much point in them starting completely from scratch at Thruxton, which is a pretty daunting circuit. It was a shame in a way, because Fabio Carbone, who drove the SLC originally, was at Thruxton supporting Ultimate and might have been able to pass on some advice.

Since the Snetterton meeting, where they made their début, they have tested there again, so I expect to see them at Brands Hatch.
