Formula 1 engines...
Wow, I literally haven't posted on here in probably a year or so. I have been so busy with classes I just haven't had the time
I am looking for some pretty technical information on some of the formula 1 motors throughout the years for a project in an engine design class. Specifically I am looking for information on the turbo era engines in terms of bores strokes...as technical as you can get. I know its a lot to ask but I thought of all places somebody here might have something |

a freind of mine posted this elsewhere:
Since Cosworth was not chosen to be an F1 engine provider this year. They let racecar engineering take a look at their V10 engine, and how they pull +20,000rpm. Sorry, you'll have to pick up an issue to see the photos but they're worth it! Cross sections of all critical areas, photos of the pistons crank, the pneumatic springs for the valves, etc. I never would have thought to install the cams like that! http://www.racecar-engineering.com/c...feature_03.htm |

The car that started the 'Turbo Era' was the Renault RS01. Its V6 engine had a bore of 86 mm and a stroke of 42.8 mm. The inline-4 cylinder BMW engine had a bore of 89.2 mm and a stroke of 60 mm.
Both seem to have made peak power at about the same engine speed - 10,500 rpm |

Matra V12
I thought you might be interested in this photo series showing the restoration of a 1960's Formula 1 car (Matra MS11). If you want I can probably dig up some info on the Matra V12 as it was back then.
