Ritter gets Drive

Greg Ritter will be driving the Brad Tilley AU Falcon in the next round of the Konica Minolta series. This will certainly throw a cat amongst the pigeons.

I would imagine so. It is in their best interest to make sure he gets some miles in a V8 Supercar.

I think Ritter is a better long distance driver than a sprint driver but i'm sure he'll be around the lead bunch. In Long Distance mode he seems to get in a real groove.

Its Mark Winterbottom's championship winner.

This was scheduled to happen at QR, but for reasons not clear, didnt eventuate.

Plan seems to be for Mr Ritter to do Mallala (and probably win it, such is the specification of the car) and the Bathurst 25 lapper... (likely same scenario)

As long as someone tapes his gob shut whenever media types are around!

I thought there were plans afoot for the "Same Car" to add points together, as was the case in previous years with Ashby/Reed and Doulman/Cotter in the main series.

But I have noticed that the points from Wakefield (the track) for Brett Peters have not been added to Wayne Wakefield's points for the remainder of the year.

then he could be a serious contender for the round win.

or at least be in the mix, meaning that contenders could lose out on points because he gets them. with only 15 points separating the top 3, he has the potental to decide the championship.

It is a complete mystery to me as to why Ritter has never had a shot in the main game. Every single time I have seen him drive I come away impressed.

I rate him but what would I know, seems people think that his attitude gets him in trouble and that is the major issue, do we really believe that to be fact

The word from 00 was that, while he's as quick as anyone when the car is right - he's not good at actually setting a car up. Considering that the same engineers had Lowndes in the car the previous year, they'd have a fair benchmark to compare him to.

That aside, Greg is a genuinely good guy and a lack of development nous hasn't impeded the careers of several drivers - although a lot of them have a fair amount of money to bring to the table (or own the team).

At least he will have a few miles under his belt before Bathurst.

A full Konica round just a few weeks before the enduros start, plus some testing I’m sure. Didn't he test the PCR Konica cars earlier in the year?

What is Brad Tilley's incentive to give up the seat?

One would guess a little discussion with his engine suppliers may have made him think it over?

I must admit to being quite puzzled as to Brad's lack of pace in this year's Konica series.

The Tilleys have dominated Historic Touring Car racing in NSW for years and Brad did a top job to win the National series last year. Anybody who can lap Bathurst in 2:30 with drum brakes and treaded tyres on 8" rims clearly lacks neither skill nor commitment.

I must admit I was a little surprised, especially since two of the five rounds so far have been on tracks he is no stranger to! He did acquire the equipment to do the job, but its not an easy game, I recon it would be as challenging as the ATCC not so long ago.

Its a totally different car, with slicks for the first time, and aero grip as well... its a huge change, despite having knowledge and experience of the power and the circuits.

Jose Fernandez also took a step up from the historics, and is only really getting into his stride in the 2nd year

Brad actually told team owner Mr Morton that he would step out of the seat if he thought someone else could do a better job than him. Which I think says volumes about the guy.... ego free...
