There has been some recent talk of adopting the IRL spec engines and chassis for the Dayton Indy Lights series. This way, CART teams that also own Indy Lights teams will have Indy ready equipment in their garage and CART can continue with the high tech engine formula. This may also help with the low car count in the current Indy Lights field. I would be interested to read others thoughts on this.

Hmm...it would be a strange move. Would be a good springboard for an Indy 500 assault of course.
But politically it would be good for CART as they would be able to say "that other series is only as good as our Jr category !" Sorry I couldn't word that better but you know what I'm saying yeah ? |

Is that the sound of the flying pigs warming up because hell is getting cool? I dont think so. The running costs for IRL cars really arent that smaller than those of Cart cars...if they can only get 12 cars in their current form, they might be lucky to get 6 with IRL cars...
Then on the other hand, IRL teams could enter in Indy Lites. But it wont happen. |
