Not sure whether this will work, but grids will surely be pretty good sized. The addition of Ginetta G55's will surely help the series.

You think so? AIUI, the reason for the merger is that neither Dutch GT nor this year's GT4 Euro-Cup managed to put together a credible field on their own.

First thought...the same **** with other flies on it.
But hey ho you can't say they're not determined to get it to work. |

Did we have a GT4 European Cup this year? Didn't hear anything. What teams and cars run there?

It wasn't run as an independent series this year, but rather some races from British, Swedish and Dutch GT had been designated as points scoring rounds for the European trophy. Not too many teams were interested, but in combination with the local fields, they usually managed to put together a credible GT4-grid.

Just to their defense...the decision to merge GT4 Trophy and national series on a number of events was a late call.
Announcing this GT4 European Series in October and making sure it will not clash with 24H and VLN events is a good step forward. Hoping for them teams will be able (and willing) to join a proper international series in 2014. |

I wonder, is there really any interest in a stand alone GT4 championship? It's nice as an addition to GT3 or in VLN, but, yeh.

Possible entries to such a GT3.5 (or rather GT3 2.0?) could be: BMW Z4 GTS (the one Schubert tested last weekend) Audi TT-RS (SP4T) Porsche 991 GT-America Ginetta G55 Supercup Mercedes CLA AMG Racing Series (perhaps, technically a touring car) Ferrari 458 Challenge (with an aero kit) Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo (AWD might be an issue, though) Maserati Trofeo |
