If you want a copy of the orginal artical written by Peter Knivett, e-mail me, I have the orginial that he sent to CCC. BTW it's not schanche's astra - this is: Strictly speaking it's not Schanche's astra full stop. The germans designed the body and chassis, Schanche of X-Trax and John Welch designed the 4x4 system for it on the back a a fag packet. - Straight from the horses mouth that is the might John Welch. cheeky toe rag! donno about that, Welch's astra at it's peak was running 740bhp and over 500lb/ft only thing is, it did seem to suffer with reliabilty probs.

nice
Alot of rallycross Mk2's over here were converted to rallying and sufice to say on taking to the irish country side they mostly reshapped the country side in every meaning of it! Mk2 escorts have gone insanely dear to buy so i guess that adds to it |

Clive Richardson bought the car of Bardy. It was possibly the fastest two wheel drive car i've seen. I think if Richardson was driving then it would beat the Evans Micra.

Not sure if it either drivers would of beaten Evan's Micra. I'm sure Bardy built an even better car second time round. |

The Micra is a better car for sure, but Richardson was a different class to Evans. I saw Richardson stuff the likes of Manning, Mantel, Pease and Newbold, not from the front but normally catch and pass them as the cars was not that good of the line. Shame we can't persuade him back, just think of Richarson in the Micra - he'd be winning superfinals!

fully agree.
But then again two different types of driving styles, i think its more the drivers failing than anything else. |

Ok ok,
Well theres two types of drivers in my opinion. 1.) The first driver relys more on the power of the car but wont push it to the full potential possibly because the car is overpowered. 2.) The second driver will use every revolution of the engine cycle to his advantage, he relys more on his gut feeling, his knowlage of the track, the limits of the car. At all times the car is pushed to the limit of what it can do. Why have a launch control system in a 2WD ? it serves no real purpose you dont gain any extra tracklenghts (and that is a fact not pure speculation). Driver 1 will win races in that car, but in other cars will be much less sucsesfull if the other cars are less powerfull. Driver 2 will win races regardless of the car. The best example i suppose of driver 2 is Eoin Murray, who has been able to win races in Stockhatch, Clio Cup and the Alfa Cup virtualy from the of each progression of the career. other examples: Jonathan Fildes, Michael Sch., Colin Mc Rae, Juha Kankunan and Sabastian Loeb. (each having sucessfull careers in multiple cars along multiple disiplins) Its a general consensious |
