Formula 2 Heroes DVD
Was just browsing t'internet and found this DVD title, due for release on 24th January. It's on for 1hr 5mins and covers Formula Junior in 1960, the 1966 season and smaller features of the 1971 and 1972 seasons. I was (pleasantly) surprised to find this kind of thing being released.

I've just pre-ordered it from Amazon - 1972 shot of Niki Lauda on the cover, priced at £11.24, but no other details. I'm just hoping there's a little bit of Crystal Palace footage on it.

Sounds good, if a little on the short side. Quite an eccentric selection though, bearing in mind the title - FJ in 1960, 1966 and 71/72. Sounds to me like a long-forgotten Sportseen-type vid which has been re-released on DVD?

FJnr and F2
I suspect the inclusion of the FJnr footage was due to it effectively being F2 in 1960.
The 1966 and 1971/72 F2 footage nicely bracket the change over from 1.6 to 2.0 litres. Pity the 1 litre F2 of the early 1960s isn't included! |

Bought this yesterday at the Autosport show.Must say I am a bit dissapointed. The 1960 FJ is the same 20min film I already have on a tape with a BRSCC club film.
1966 is a black & white Honda film featuring the Brabhams in brief clips of most of the 12 races they took part in. 71-72 seems to be the home movies of one Ian Dawson, with stills.Good shots of Crystal Palace. DVD 'extras' are 68 'Palace, and more recent in-car footage of historic F2 at Spa. BTW: Also on sale on the same stand is a series of 'F1 Legends of the 50s' These are the John Tate films previously marketed as 'A Gentlemans Motor Racing Diary' |

A gentlemans motor racing diary-John Tate
Hi Guys
please forgive if this is "off topic"but I was lucky enough to be given a copy of this DVD at Xmas, enjoyed it very much, but felt it left you hanging with a distinct impression there was more to come! Needless to say, searched all obvious possible sources(Amazon etc.)but no luck. Anyone got any clues to help, please? Regards to all, snett fan55. |

When I bought this I was very disappointed, there just didn't seem to be enough material there. Quality was also 'variable' in the extreme, and why the on-board lap of Spa from 2004 (or whenever)? It just didn't seem to fit!
