RMR should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Castle Combe Carnival '05

6 weeks until the Carnival, I was wondering who would be doing it. Is it just going to be the normal combe'rs or will others be joining in? Normally a cracking day of racing and prizes.

Although it seems to be low key this year.

I'm tempted myself if I can get to test at a sensible price.

you would be very welcome,we like to see new names taking on the regulars.

But you're right it would be interesting to know who's doing it the prize fund is usually pretty good too.

Peter Dempsey comes to mind don't think we've seen him at combe yet?

I think Peter is doing it as it is part of the KOK.

I am not as I ended last years in an ambulance...

More of an old regular coming back again for a play but thanks

Usually Melton Concretes put up the fund, and the CC website says they are sponsoring again. Usually I get bombarded with CC mail with details.

No excuse Chris, but good Peter is going. Hopefully quite a few of non Combe'rs enter.

It love the circut JD but with the engine costing me £3k I can't justify the extra budget. I am just going to do the A1 and WHT this year so I have had to scrap the festival as well.

I am sure Richard would love the lap record but that quote was from Richard Misters and not Matt Rivett.

Maybe we should bring back the post about Matt and Gavin crashing into each other all the time!!!!

seconded

Gixxer - Matt is still well aware of his record

RR77 - so its time not the fact you had a crash then? They have only crashed twice (two festivals in a row).

Should expect RMR to easily be in the top 10 in the carnival.

That's what i meant

He could always come back and try to extend them further but think the conditions would have to be perfect for the to happen.

It depends really, he wasn't leading the race when he set the record, which IIRC was set at the powertour meeting in 2002?

Ed Moore got close to it lst year at the last c'ship round so I think it could happen any time any where if theres someone quick enough.

yes that was the same as Marc Goosens on the old track he got the lap record when he was down in 12th place back in the day's of the national ff1600.

Its always good to see a lap record go it shows that you've got to be on or somewhere near the limit.

Werethe marker posts at the esses and bobbies installed after matt rivets' lap record was established (correct me if I am wrong) which I believe is an attributing factor to the lap record still standing to-day.

Although Ed Moore has got very close to the record in qualifying (may have been under it in testing), a 1:11.??? lap would indeed be a very special lap.

The marker post were all gone with in a few laps (much to the stewards delight) every time I raced there.

Is this now a lap record thread. Podge - I'm sure many can say they beat a certain time in testing all to easy isnt it

As to you..sorry Ed not getting the record, well whats the saying "If at first you dont succeed, try, try again"? Sure if you...Sorry! Ed keeps trying he will get the record Matt got in his first season of a what was then class A car.

Or maybe the extra time is in the kg's?

Ed Moore was in the race when Matt set the record, but IIRC could get no where near those times in his swift marker posts or no marker posts?

Apart form yourself justin do you want to make a prediction who's gonna win this year based on those who have raced this this year and if peter dempsey is going to enter he also must be a contender?

Peter will walk it if he is racing. But if not then I think it will be close between Tim and Pat. Maybe might depend on who gets the upper hand this weekend...

I will just hope for a finish I think gixxer based on my current run of form!

Dempsey has got to be the favourite, and Matt if he can make to out will definitely be up there with him. Ed and Pat could be there in the semis, but Ed does not have a good track record with big events (save the Jim walsh where he passed two cars in the gravel on the last lap). That's not to take anything away from him though as he's a good driver.

Hugh Robertson should go really well as he has been building up to a big result over the past few races - podium in the final even with the above, could be a dark horse if Rivett and Dempsey don't finnish.

Tim Ren would be the opposite of Moore when it comes to big events but has no where near the pace of Dempsey, Rivett and Moore. I am not sure Pat will last a semi and a final without spinning/crashing but good luck to him

Apart from the above expect Andy MEYRICK to spring a few suppresses in his Reynard, and I think we may see Chris Chisnall return, but we will wait and see!
