Nation's Cup
I have always wondered how are the Nations Cup points calculated. If you add all the points of all the drivers from a country, the result is different to the total points from a nation, except in nations that have only one driver.
So, how are this points calculated? |

Points are calculated based on the top finishing poistion of a driver from each country. For example if a Canadian driver finished first, Canada would receive 20 points. If another Canadian finished second, those points would not be added to the nations cup total. If a Mexican driver finished thrid in the same race (and was the top finishing Mexican), then those points would be added.
It's my first time here. i'm all reved up as i've been reading the posts for a long time. i just had to wait until i got the funding to start up my own team. CART Rocks! Last edited by BizTeacher; 30 Jul 2003 at 15:42. |

Yep, and the manufcaturer's cup and the engine cup (not really relevant this year!) are calculated in teh same way - Lola have 20 points from each rce, whereas Reyanrd have scored from their best finisher (often Manning)

Welcome, Biz, and feel free to join our fantasy champ car grid if you have an interest -- we accept entries right up to the last race of the year.
I never thought about how they scored the Nations Cup, so I'm glad to ahve the explanation. |

In 1999, Brazil won. But more interestingly, only 66 points behind were Colombia and Scotland. So, Brazil only won by number strength...
