Anglesey 25th/26th June
Just got my documents for Anglesey. What is going on . One 15 minute qualifying session on Saturday. Last time we had one 20 minute session and one 15 minute session on Sunday.

Yes, but I think you will find that there is a lot more to get through than last time as well. Normally with double-headers you only get one session, at the last meeting the Sunday session was more padding than anything else!

what so FF1600 should subsidise the rest of the meeting then as we both had full grids...

FF1600 entry fees should be the same as for all other classes. It is not the fault of your fellow competitors in other series if a full grid is not obtained: it should be down to the organisers to merge grids and fill the programme to make the meeting more financially viable. Punishing competitors does nothing to increase entry levels.

All hail the rich kids......... |

But if you apply that, new championships would never get off the ground. Look at something like MaX5 - attracting grids in the mid-teens last year, and now 35 cars this. It is one of the success stories of 2005 so far.
The clubs run the meeting, and the onus should be on them to make the meeting viable by charging a fair entry fee to all competitors and getting as many cars on the grids as possible. Otherwise you get into a horrible, descending spiral. And we must not forget that two of the championships that are having the poorest entry levels in the country this season are for FF1600. |

I must admi that I don't know what a Max5 is...but I do remember a couple of years ago watching 4 or 5 New Fiestas 'racing' whilst on the same day XR2s and 3s were crammed together with reserves not racing. IMHO this was an effort to start a new category which would make money for those supplying the cars and kits. It seems that there is an invisible layer of promotors who are hell bent on making current formulae obsolete and putting the entire burden on the competitor.......aided and abetted by the motoring press.

Stephen - MaX5 is the championship for Mazda MX5s.
Chris - Donington not a quality circuit? And it isn't all that long ago that SoM at Mallory had reserves... It is just swings and roundabouts really. The strength of the NW championship - and it is strong with good reason - has probably drawn some cars away from it. |

I love Donny & Silverstone Ian but the SOM is mainly a Mallory Championship and as Jase pointed out on your other thread it is not one of the drivers favs.....

Answer me this one then Ian.
With infinitely more cars at Anglesey than the first round their in May, why is the entry fee the same? With the TCars being there, I understand that they get the track time they get through some sponsorship deal that covers the cost of their inflated track time. So they cover themselves. With all the other races on this meeting, the club stand to make a tidy profit from this, unless the last Anglesey ran at a loss, which I very much doubt. Also, according to your previous post in this Thread of only one Qualifying at the start of the weekend, we always, always had a qualifying on each day at Anglesey. I can understand they may be limited on track time with the number of races, but with that in mind, the cost should have been adjusted accordingly. If you went to a restaurant and order a 12oz steak and when they brought it out, they said they only had enough left for an 8oz, you wouldn't pay for the 12oz would you....... Mmmmmmm........Steak................ Erm sorry, drifted off there for a moment.. |

It is a digrace that we are expected to pay £265 for 2 x 15 minute races only one qualifying.
Why don't they put us as first race and last race on sat so we don't have to bother waiting over till Sunday for just a 15 min race....... |
