ATTN: Konica-Minolta 7D SLR Users
I need some help from any 7D (Maxxum) users that we may have here. I want to know if the camera itself has in built macro mode support. The lens is a cheap & cheerful 75-300mm and has "macro" writing on it.
However, I had no joy finding any mention of its macro capability on both the camera itself and in the user's manual. Not sure if this would be lens dependent or not. Many thanks in advance. Terry P.S. Camera's firmware has already been updated to version 1.10e. Last edited by TerryC; 24 Feb 2005 at 11:56. |

If it's an SLR the macro capability would be a function of the lens ad not mentioned on the camera.
Some telephoto lenses have a 'macro' feature which allows them to focus on close up objects. It's rarely a true macro however - which is defined as having 1:1 magnification or greater. ie. a 20mm insect would take up 20mm of your 35mm film frame. You might find your telephoto lens is a 1:2 - 20mm becomes 10mm on the sensor. For best results use a prime macro lens - sigma and tamron both make pretty good 90 and 100mm macro lenses I believe. |

Thanks for the advice, I guess the lens lied because there isn't a macro switch anywhere to be seen and that I have confirmed the above by focusing at close range but it was unable to focus properly. I guess the logical thing would be to ask Minolta itself for an explanation...

try going to the maximum zoom and see if you are able to find an extra bit of focus range. you'll probably still need to be a foot or two away from the subject.
