Try using strips of lead flashing bought from a builder's merchant. It's flexible, can be cut to suit location and all you need to do is bolt some straps over it.

Lead is very very expensive some of our guys buy or source secondhand weightlifting equipment usually very cheap on Ebay and has the advantage of being easy and safe to bolt down and looks reasonably attractive well as attractive as ballast can look!

Thanks for the replies
The guy I'm sharing the car with is looking for some weight lifting weights so fingers crossed we'll get it all sorted out in time for the next race. |

The other beauty with weightlifting kit is they are all accurately marked up so if you are under say 5 kgs its an easy job to bolt another in accurately without messing about with scales, may be important if sharing a car and car is weighed with driver onboard.

Use diving weights, easily available. You could use them on a weight belt as they would be secure.

I was only pointing out what is available, you can buy them at a little over scrap value from someone who is flogging off their old scuba kit.
The non coated ones are as cheap as chips but I don't want to flog mine, they're in Spain anyway You could always strap in an old lead acid battery ! |

Lead is £5 per kilo at kart tracks, so you'll need a bit more than you think to cover the lightening of the wallet
